Title: Snow Day

Pairing: Jared/Jensen

Summary: Written for the prompt: ‘Jared/Jensen, snowed in.’

Rating: PG-13

The sound of Sadie and Harley barrelling up the stairs woke Jensen and he rolled over in bed, grateful that Jared had remembered to close the bedroom door before he went out. He opened his eyes, smiling when he caught sight of the cup of coffee that was waiting for him on the nightstand.

He could hear Jared shouting of the dogs and he grinned as they went thundering back down the stairs. The coffee was hot and strong as he swallowed it down. He finished the cup and then swung his legs over the side of the bed, sitting up, still tangled up in the sheets.

He laughed as Jared began to sing downstairs, wondering how he’d finally reached the point where he no longer got sick of hearing the same Christmas carol over and over again. Still smiling, he pushed himself up off the bed and walked across the room, grabbing a hoodie on his way.

Downstairs, he leaned against the door frame for a moment, watching as Jared made breakfast. He bent down to pet the dogs as they came over to him and grinned when he stood up, finding himself face to face with Jared.

“Morning.” Jared placed a kiss on Jensen’s forehead, obviously deciding that it was wise not to comment on the fact that Jensen was wearing his hoodie.

“Thanks for the coffee,” he reached for Jared’s neck, pulled him down for a proper kiss, “How was the walk?”

Jared shook his head, turning back to making the breakfast, “We only got as far as the yard, we’re snowed in.”

“Snowed in?” He crossed over to the window and, sure enough, all he could see was snow. “Man, the dogs are going to go mad.”

Jared stepped up behind him, rested his chin on his shoulder, “The kids’ll be fine, Jensen.”

“Yeah, I guess,” Jensen glanced over at Harley as he jumped up at the kitchen counter and grabbed a piece of toast, “Or maybe not.”

---

Jensen looked up from his breakfast when Jared walked back into the room, his hair still dripping from his shower. He snagged a piece of toast from Jensen’s plate, laughing when he complained about the droplets of water than had hit him. Still standing over Jensen, he shook his head so that more water landed on Jensen before jumping aside to avoid the kick that was aimed at his leg.

“You’re a jerk.”

“Probably. What do you want to do today?” He sat down in the chair opposite Jensen, hooked their ankles together.

“What?”

“Today? While we’re snowed in. “

“Right,” he gave a piece of his toast to Sadie, and then another bit to Harley, “We could make a start on those Christmas cards.”

“Boring. We can do that some time when it’s raining. Right now, we’re snowed in. We should bake. Or watch a movie or something.”

He shrugged, “We could watch Jeff’s movie – the one that we told him we’d seen weeks ago.”

“Ah, I knew there was a reason that I kept you around.”

“What?”

“You’re full of smart ideas.”

---

Carrying a bowl of ice-cream smothered in banana jam, Jensen walked into the room and sat down on the settee next to Jared, who grinned as he settled in against his side. Jared reached for the remote and started the movie, carding his other hand through Jensen’s hair.

“I called around, if the snow doesn’t let up soon, they’re going to have to postpone filming for a few weeks.”

Jensen frowned, “I hope they don’t.”

“Yeah, me too.”

“I hope we’re not snowed in for too long. I mean, the dogs need runs and we need food and-”

Jared laughed, leaned down to kiss Jensen’s cheek, “You’re funny.”

“You’re mean.” He scowled.

“I’m not really.”

Jensen’s expression softened, “No. You’re not.” He yawned, shifted closer to Jared.

“Are you going to be able to stay awake?”

He shrugged, “Depends on the movie, I guess.” He turned his head as he felt Jared smirk against his cheek, “What?”

“I can think of some things that would keep you awake. I mean, there are other things to do when you’re snowed in apart from watching movies.” He pressed another kiss against the corner of Jensen’s lips, pushed his hand under Jensen’s hoodie to rest against the bare skin there.

“Hmmm,” Jensen nodded, “I think I could grow to like snow days.”
