A/N: My first attempt at J2!
Jensen padded down the stairs, his bare feet sinking into the soft, plush carpet that Jared had insisted upon. The rest of the house was silent - Jared was still out with the dogs - and he crossed over to the Christmas tree that was in the corner of the room, taking advantage of the few moments peace. He slipped the present that he’d bought for Jared out of his pocket and placed it under the tree, grinning when he saw that Jared had already put some things underneath it. He turned around as he heard the front door close, hurried to stand beneath the mistletoe hanging in the doorway. Jared walked up the hallway, pulling his hat off on his way.
“Hey, again.”
Jared grinned, stepped up to Jensen and leaned down to kiss him softly on the lips, “You’re awake.”
“Well, yeah. You knew that. I mean, I wasn’t exactly asleep before when you-”
“Yeah, you could have gone back to sleep, though.”
He shrugged, “It’s Christmas.”
“Yeah. Yeah, it is.” He grabbed hold of Jensen’s hand, tugged him towards the tree, “Come on, presents.”
Squeezing Jared’s hand, he asked, “What about breakfast?”
“Breakfast can wait.”
Jensen clasped his hand to his chest, made a show of gasping loudly, “Jared Padalecki, saying that food can wait? Really?”
“Jerk.” He poked Jensen’s side, laughing, and then rested his chin on his shoulder, nuzzled into his neck.
“Come on, then.”
“What?”
“Presents, Jared. Remember.”
He nodded against Jensen’s neck and then pulled away. He moved towards the tree, his hand still grasping Jensen’s. “Okay, you open mine first.”
“Okay,” he knelt down next to the tree, grinned at Jared when he sat down opposite, his legs crossed, “What is it?”
Jared threw his head back and laughed, “Open it and you’ll find out, idiot.”
He stuck his tongue out and began to tear at the paper, shaking his head when he saw Jared’s addition to it. The paper was covered in cartoon angels, and Jared had drawn an arrow from one of them and labeled it ‘Castiel.’ He pulled the paper away and smiled when he saw the gift; he took the necklace from the box and placed it around his neck then reached across to press his lips to Jared’s.
“Thank you.”
Jared pulled him back in for a deeper kiss, tongue sliding lazily over Jensen’s for a moment before they moved apart again.
“You like it?”
Jensen nodded, “Course I do. Open yours now.”
He shook his head, “You’ve still got something else to open.”
“Jared.”
“What?”
“We said we weren’t going to go overboard this year, not after last year.”
Jared grinned, moved closer to Jensen and wrapped an arm around his shoulders, “It’s not expensive, I promise. You’ll like it.” He held out the gift.
“Okay,” he took the present, “I didn’t get you two things, though. Now I feel bad.”
“Don’t,” Jared glanced up as the dogs came into the room, smiled when they flopped down next to the fire, “Believe me, spending Christmas with you is more than enough. Open it.”
He ripped the paper off the box, his brows furrowing when he opened it to find another box. He kept going, working through box after box until he found an envelope. “Jared, what-”
“Just open it.”
He opened it, pulled out the paper that was inside and read the message that had been written in Jared’s familiar scrawl. “What – Jared, what is this?”
“It’s what it says. I’m going to kiss you as often as possible, every time I get a chance today. Merry Christmas.” He moved, straddling Jensen’s hips and started the day off as he meant to go on, lips meeting Jensen’s. He ran his tongue over Jensen’s bottom lip before pulling back.
“You’re such a sap.”
“Shut up, you love it.” He leaned forwards again, lips pressing against Jensen’s forehead. He didn’t comment when he felt Jensen nod. Instead, he cupped Jensen’s chin, pulling him up so that their lips met again. Jensen deepened the kiss, scraping his teeth along Jared’s bottom lip before sliding his tongue into his mouth. Might as well start as they meant to go on.
