I'll be graduating with a 2:1 in a few weeks time! Honestly, the last few years have been so up and down and I'm really happy to have achieved a (high!) 2:1 and get so much experience that'll help me with work on top of that.

I kinda knew anyway, but the official result also makes it official that I'll be accepted onto the PGCE course - a new, exciting chapter!

I go back to uni today. The thing is, I like uni but I have exams in May and essays for May and I know for a fact that the next month or so is going to be soooooo hectic. So I'm kind of eek about going back today. But then, I also get to see my friends who I haven't seen for aaages today so I'm conflicted. Makes a nice change today though because I don't have to have my study group meeting so I'll actually be able to have lunch.

In other news, I've been having all the Adam Milligan feels lately and they HURT. I watched Jump the Shark yesterday and I just kept thinking about what would have happened if Adam had survived and then I started to think about him still being in the cage and, yeah. Anyone have any fic recs for me where Adam survives Jump the Shark or gets rescued from the cage or something? Or even an AU where he meets his brothers in a different way, John optional. Gen or I pretty much ship anything. (Also, I totally know what I'm spending my summer writing now, lots and lots of Adam fic)

Seriously though people, ADAMMMMM.

It's not long until my birthday now - it's on a Friday which is nice because I have that day off uni anyway. Then, on the Saturday we're going to see Avengers. So I'm looking forward to that (even though people keep asking what I want and I can't think of anything!)

Still having fun over at leverageland - have a few challenges to catch up on this week but I love my fellow grifters (and even a few people from other teams, too *g*).

Also, I figure this is about the time to ask if there's anyone on my flist who is going to be at A8. If so, shout up because it'd be awesome if we could meet/look out for each other :)

*hugs you all*
theron09: (impala pretty)
Not feeling well today - my throat is really sore and I feel a bit tired and run-down - so I've had to cancel going out with my friends for the pub quiz tonight which is a shame because it wasn't on last week and I miss them when I don't see them. It's the sensible thing to do, though, I figure if I can get some rest and stay inside in the warm I might manage to limit the damage to just a sore throat rather than a full-blown cold. So, instead of going out at all today I'm going to try and get the reading for uni finished and then I might get around to watching Supernatural - I tried to dl it yesterday but it wasn't working.

I've just realised it's been a little while since I've updated- it's mainly because I've not been up to anything new; just going to uni and writing. My Leverage Reverse Bang is going very well, should have the draft finished soon and then my next job is finishing the Stanford fic which I'm looking forward to getting back to. Then I should really make a start to my spn_j2_bigbang fic. Eeek, why did I sign up for so much?! It's all fun, though, so I'm going to try and enjoy it and not get stressed.

Speaking of the Stanford fic, I'm not looking for any definite answers yet but do any of you think you might be up for beta-reading it for me? It's going to be a big project - it's at 35k now and there's still a way to go before it gets finished.

I'm also collaborating with [livejournal.com profile] ishilde on a fic for the Adam challenge (as well as hopefully writing my own fic too.) We have our plot totally outlined and I'm really enjoying the process of working with someone else on the actual writing so far - it'll be interesting to see how it goes when we start the writing.

I finished season one of White Collar on Friday (while I was waiting for leverageland bingo) - I've really enjoyed the season and I really like the dynamics between the characters and the characters themselves. There's a couple of other shows I'm thinking about giving a go - Castle, Burn Notice, Hawaii 5-0. Anyone have any opinions on those?

I watched 'I Am Number 4' last night; it was quite different to the book but I thought it was quite a good film. It was weird seeing Jake Abel in that part, though, I kept wanting to hug him and I don't think that's the reaction I was meant to have to the character!

This sounds like all I've been doing is watching tv and movies but I have also been very busy with uni things; there's more reading to do this semester because I'm doing two lit modules instead of one. I'm really enjoying both of the lit modules so far but it's taking me a while to get back into the swing of reading. Think I'm about there now, though. Haven't made up my mind about the history module I'm doing yet; I think it has the potential to be enjoyable but it hasn't got there yet.

Anyway, I feel like I haven't been around much/talked to many of you lately so go ahead and ask any questions or tell me something random or whatever :) *hugs you all*
theron09: (eye of the tiger)
It's my day off today! *dances*

Yesterday seemed really busy (hence why I just did a bullet post) - had lectures and a seminar and then helped out at Brownies - have two extra things from next week too so I think Thursday is going to be my tiring day!  I'm trying to have a productive day today - going to read some Chaucer later for next week and right now I'm doing some writing. Speaking of, I'm going to be messaging the people I still owe fics to later today so look out for those.

I've started watching White Collar - I'm about five episodes in now and I'm really, really enjoying it - I like the characters and the plot and Matt Bomer...basically, it's fun :)

Apparently there's new A8 news coming soon...a male guest who is a Winchester...I'm excited! The thing is, I don't know who I'd prefer it to be because it'd be amazing if it was Jensen but then JDM would also be really cool, as would Jake Abel if they're calling him a Winchester...eeek, can I not have them all?

I feel like I haven't spoken to that many of you recently so ask me any question or whatever :)

Heading into uni for the first day of semester two shortly - I have three lectures today and I imagine they're mostly going to be introductory. Have one point where I have to do the usual dash to get from one building to the next in time for my lecture but, luckily, I have a friend who will probably save me a seat.

Met up with [livejournal.com profile] ishilde for coffee yesterday and we started planning the fic we're collaborating on for the Adam challenge - I'm very, very excited to be working with her on this - never collaborated with anyone on writing a fic before though, anyone have any tips for how best to organise it?

My Leverage reverse bang is still coming along nicely - I have 3000 words done and a very clear idea of what's happening. Speaking of, is there anyone who might be willing to beta it for me when it's done? It's going to be at least 10,000 words and it's Sophie/Eliot - there's a chance it might need to be a fairly quick turnaround depending on when I finish but I'm hoping I'll get the draft done to leave enough time.

I'm really looking forward to Friday now - my day off! (Also the day me and my friends go to Pizza Hut, it's going to be even better this week because I think my friend who is away at uni is going to be there!)

Anyway, I better go and get ready so I'm not late for my first lecture...

*hugs you all*

Hey! How are you all? It's a few days since I've updated because I was handing my essay in and stuff and then yesterday was the Panic! At The Disco gig.

IT WAS AMAZING! Three of us went and queued up from about 1.30 pm and then my sister and her friend came to meet us once they were done with school. It was so, so cold, especially when it got later, but it was so, so worth the wait. We didn't get right at the front and we ended up having to move back just before Panic! started because it got a bit too rough for us. To be honest, though, where we ended up was better because we went near the bar and we still had a great view of the stage but there was more room to move around and the bar staff were around in case anything happened.

The gig itself was just fantastic - the vocals and the atmosphere and the music. They did a cover of 'Billie Jean' that was really electric and they also covered 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love' near the end of the night and it was so, so awesome. The set list was really good, actually, they covered quite a good mix of their older stuff and the songs off the new album - can't pick a favourite but Brendan Urie's vocals on 'Always' were amazing.

In other news, semester two starts on Monday - I think it's going to be easier to manage my time etc this semester because I (should) have Mondays and Fridays off where I'll be able to review stuff and then have the weekends a bit more free. I'm doing two English Lit modules and one History module this time around - looking forward to it.

I'm back!

Hey all! How are you? Having a good weekend?

I finally sat my exam yesterday! I think it went quite well - I managed to answer my questions on a pretty good range of topics and I think I argued my points well so I've just got to wait until we get the results now and see :) I feel like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders now, though. I still have a term paper to write but I've done all the leg work - the researching and planning - already and it's a different sort of pressure to exams anyway :)

I've taken today off. I was just going to take the morning off because we took Kizzie for a long walk and then went for a pub lunch but when we got home my cousin was here with his kids and they stayed up until about half an hour ago so I'm just going to grant myself the rest of the day off, too! I can write my essay up tomorrow. Going to try and get some writing done this evening instead - it's ages since I've had the time to just sit and write so I want to do some of that. Lots of things on the go at the moment. Speaking of, if any of you who are still waiting for your prompt fics want to change to a non-seasonal prompt now that it's pretty late in January, just say. I really don't mind.

I don't know whether I mentioned but I've been watching the BBC Sherlock over the last couple of weeks - I'm all caught up except for 2x3 but I think I'm waiting a few days to watch that until my Mum and sister are caught up. I really do love it, though! Next on my list to try is White Collar.

What have you guys been up to? I know a few of you signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang...do you know what you want to write/do art for yet? I'm really excited for this round!

Wooh!

theron09: (motorbikejensen)
My assessments are done! I have to physically hand my history in tomorrow but, apart from that, I'm all up to date! I still have the usual seminar work etc to do but at least things should be quieter for a little while now :)

It's the finale of this season's Downton Abbey tonight but I'm going to miss it because I'm going out to a quiz at the uni bar - should be fun :) I'm going to try not to stay out too late because I have a 9am lecture tomorrow. Going to try and finish the fic I'm working on before I go, finally feel like I'm getting back into writing properly again so I want to keep it up!

I feel really happy at the moment. Like, uni is busy and stressful but at the same time it's really awesome and I've made some amazing friends. I didn't expect it to be as easy to make friends; throughout school, I always struggled with that, even though I did have an amazing friendship group by the end of it. But this, it's been so easy. I've found an awesome group of people who love Supernatural and, more importantly, are nice, good people even without the whole liking the same things as me. I feel very lucky. So yeah, things with my family still aren't great and I still have problems like anyone does but I also have new people in my life who make me smile and a close family who are there for me. And, of course, I have you guys <3

I've decided I need to use my camera more, I always forget to take photos when I'm out and about with my friends and I want those memories. This plan will begin tonight. Yup.

theron09: (impala (again!))
Today has been good :) I had an early lecture (9am on a Monday really is quite cruel) but nothing else all day so I went out with my Mum and sister (my sister has the week off school) because it had been ages since we'd done anything. We took Kizzie for a long walk at a local heritage site and it was really nice. Then I came back home and did some work and I've been pretty productive. Everything is ready for my study group meeting tomorrow and I've done some reading, too. I just need to finish off an essay plan and then I'm free to do my own stuff tonight.

I'm attending a talk that an author of one of the books on my reading list is giving tomorrow night; going to go out with a friend for a bite to eat beforehand so it should be an interesting night. It means, however, that I won't be around much tomorrow.

I loved Downton Abbey again last night  - I don't want the series to end! Also, I'm working on my first Downton Abbey fic right now which is pretty exciting :) I'm not sure how good it's going to be but it's still exciting!
theron09: (jensen smiling)
The seminar this morning was so awesome :D I found out that I already knew two people who are in it from the summer school which is great because it means that:

a)I know someone
and
b) Not EVERYONE looks at me in confusion when I say Geordie words like 'canny'!

Anyway, it was really good and we had a discussion going about the worth of a humanities degree and it was really fun. I have my study group now (one of the girls from the summer school plus two other girls who seem really nice) so I think everything is sorted timetable-wise now.

I've been doing some reading and note-taking since I got in at about 11 so I'm going to keep going for a little while longer and then start doing other things like writing (I have my [livejournal.com profile] leverageland team up fic to work on, as well as everything else I still need to do!) and watching shows and catching up on all of your posts. Anything important/fun/squee-worthy that you guys think I need to see?

theron09: (eye of the tiger)
Hey guys! So, I had my first official lecture today! It was just a kind of introduction to the module as a whole but it was fun and I won a free book (The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes) which was cool! I have two history lectures tomorrow - usually I'd have an English seminar in the middle of those but that doesn't start until next week so I'm going to use the time to introduce myself to my personal tutor and head across to the library for a few books.

Downton Abbey was awesome again last night - I really do love it. The cast are just wonderful (Maggie Smith is, I'm going to say it again, a legend.)

In other news, I'm considering signing up for the [livejournal.com profile] john_w_bigbang. I wasn't going to but then I saw that the final draft isn't due until February and I think I should manage it. I don't know what I'm writing yet, though. It'll either be something gen with John or Jeff/Jensen. A small part of me wants to write J3 but I'm not sure it's a good idea to try it out for the first time with a long fic. Anyway, any ideas/prompts would be considered and appreciated :D

Other fics that are in progress at the moment are:

-Prompt fics for [livejournal.com profile] pippii and [livejournal.com profile] trollmela
- Team Up fic for a challenge at [livejournal.com profile] leverageland
-Stanford fic

Okay, I'm going to go and see about buying some Converse now...talk to me, guys - what are you all up to?

- I'm going to register at my uni tomorrow and meet up with someone I've been chatting to online. I'm pretty excited :D

- I'm creating a whole new masterpost because the one I have is all jumbled up and needs updating anyway. So that means I'm having to go through all my tags to make sure I don't miss anything. Man, my tags are all over the place. I have 'fic' and 'fics' and all other sorts of tags - I wish I'd started off more organised!!

- I haven't watched the new 'The Mentalist' yet because I still haven't finished season three - I'm slowly catching up, though.

- I'm so, so excited for Supernatural!!! I'll probably manage to watch it tomorrow evening sometime. I hope you all have an awesome time watching it whenever you manage to see it :)
theron09: (ackles attention)
It's really quiet around the house this morning - my little sister has gone back to school today so nothing's really happening and she'd already gone when I woke up. It seems like this year, the six weeks summer holiday went over way too quickly and, apart from the holiday, we hardly went out anywhere. Yesterday was nice, though. We went to a local stately home place and then for a pub lunch.

I don't start uni until the 25th (and that's freshers week so I don't have classes until October) so I have a little way to go but I need to start getting more organised now. I'm going to sit down with my Mum later and we're going to go through all the emails, letters and scholarships information that I've recieved over the last week or so from the uni. And, as I wrote the first paragraph of this post, the bell rang and it was a parcel with some of the books that I ordered and, man, I have a LOT of reading to do. It's exciting and also a little daunting so I'm going to start reading some stuff today - I'm not sure what we'll be doing first but it can't hurt to get a head start on any of them.

I'm getting to the point now where I can't wait for season seven of Supernatural. It's awesome that my mum and sister like to watch Leverage and The Mentalist with me but it means that we're watching those most nights, at the time when I used to sometimes go upstairs to watch Supernatural. Which means I haven't watched ANY Supernatural in ages and I really miss it. I've done pretty well at avoiding season seven spoilers so hopefully it's all going to be a wonderful surprise and I'm really looking forward to it!

My plan for today writing-wise is to do some work on my Stanford fic - I re-read the whole thing yesterday to refresh my memory because it's been a while since I've done anything to it and I still really like it. It's at 26/7 k at the moment so I'm aiming to maybe get it to 30k by the end of today. I'm going to try and do some work on an entry for a challenge at leverageland[livejournal.com profile] leverageland
theron09: (sophie)

I think I'm coherent enough for a proper post after yesterday's announcement! I still kind of can't believe it, though. I'm going to university and it's so exciting and scary and awesome! Most of the people I met during the summer school got in too so I'm going to know people from there which is going to be so great.

We went out for lunch yesterday to a pub that's about half an hour away and that was awesome fun and my Mum made me a chocolate cake too :) I didn't go out with my friends in the end cause no-one really got back to me.

Today's my Grandma's birthday so I've been hanging out at home with the family - we sat outside for a while and played some sort-of badminton (me and my sister, not my Grandparents!)

My aim for tonight and tomorrow is to finish of my Leverage big bang. The 21st August deadline is looming now and I'm at 9k so I still have a little way to go if I'm going to make it in time!

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] trinipedia and [livejournal.com profile] beckytheelf ! I hope you both have an amazing, amazing day. *hugs*

Welcome to my new friend [livejournal.com profile] lady_eilthana - I'm really looking forward to being friends :)

It's a few days since I've posted properly - I'm doing okay, just trying to revise hard. I haven't done any yet today, though, because we went out to a local(ish) stately house and gardens for a walk. It's really, really hot here today so it was really nice to be outside after being in the house all week. It means I need to stay in tomorrow and work instead of spending the night with some friends but I'll have all summer to go out so I don't mind.

I'm really looking forward to season four of Leverage now! It's really not far away and I can't wait for it :) I haven't written any more of my [livejournal.com profile] thebigbangjob fic yet but I'm trying not to worry about that until after exams.

Did I ever mention that I got some more information about what I'll be doing at the summer school? In my subject strand we'll be looking at novels, poetry, drama and films. I'm really excited about the range of stuff we look at - Atonement, Larkin, Hamlet and, get this, the three films are 'Vertigo' (which, you know, Hitchcock is always awesome), 'The Big Sleep' (Bogart - Starsky would be proud) and Legally Blonde (which should be...interesting.) I have a feeling the seven days I'm at the uni are going to be very intense but also very fun and worthwhile.

So, erm, what have you guys been up to?

theron09: (coffee break)
  • Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] mysticwaters ! I hope you have a really awesome, brilliant, fun-filled day. *hugs*

  • I'm still looking for someone to beta that Sam/Dean fic :)

  • I have a thing at the university tomorrow - going to meet up with someone I've been talking to online who is doing a similar course to me. Hopefully it'll be a good chance to meet some people so that I have friends at the summer school in July.

  • I wrote loads yesterday. I did lots of revision today. I figure that balances it out :)

theron09: (coffee break)
I'm going to try typing this out for the second time seeing as my internet decided to crash on me :/

Hey guys. How are you all? I hope you're all having an awesome weekend!

So, last night I finally confirmed my decision about which uni course I want to apply for. I don't know why I waited so long because I've known which one I want to do for ages but I guess it all just sort of seemed so final and I wanted to wait and be sure that it was the right course for me and that I didn't change my mind. Anyway, once I did that my Mum and I applied for my student finance so it's all feeling like it's actually happening now which is awesome and scary and I really hope we didn't make any mistakes on the form.

On a semi-related note, I have this horrible feeling that I'm supposed to be on Pack Holiday (with the Brownies) when Freshers Week starts. If Freshers starts on the Monday then I'll be fine but if it starts on the Saturday then I have a problem. I've already said I'll do Pack Holiday and I think I need to go for part of my leadership qualification BUT I obviously don't want to miss Freshers because it'll make it harder to make friends and Freshers is a part of the whole experience. I just really hope the dates work out alright :/

I've just finished doing my homework for the weekend which is good becuse now I have this afternoon and tomorrow to do what I want to do :D Technically, I should try and look for some sources for my history coursework as well but I'm still struggling to find any. Anyway, I'm going to start doing some writing once I've finished with this post.

Tonight, my Mum and sister and I are going to go through lots of leaflets and stuff to try and work out what we want to do on our holiday. We're going away for a week during the Easter holidays, staying in a cottage at Loch Lomond which should be awesome. I think there's a chance we won't get internet out there, though, which means I'll have to wait until we get back to watch Supernatural which means that my hellatus is going to be a week longer than everyone elses!

The week after that is my birthday. I think I've worked out what I want. I was in town with my Mum the other day and we got this gorgeous leather bomber jacket so my Grandma and Grandad are giving me that :) And then my Mum and I are going to go halves on a laptop because I really need a new one. The one that I have keeps freezing and lots of the letters on the keyboard aren't clear anymore and things like that. Plus, I wanted to get a new one for starting uni anyway so it's a good chance to do that. It does mean I'm going to have to spend  a lot of time putting my stories and icons and music and school files onto disc so that I can put them all onto my new laptop. I better start doing that soon!

Sorry...I'm rambling again!
theron09: (jared2)

Hey guys :D

I have this information event thing today. I'm leaving at about half two and the event doesn't finish until 8 so I'm probably not going to have time for much tonight. I'm looking forward to it but I'm also a little bit nervous. I'll definitely let all of you know how it goes, though :)

I'm not sure if I mentioned but I have Friday off this week which is awesome :) So yeah, I'm going to try and finish off a few of those prompt fics that I still owe some of you. I've actually started them all and then I got sidetracked by coursework. It shouldn't take me too long to finish them so you don't have too much longer to wait :D Then, once I have the prompt fics posted I can start working more on my big bang and on the fic for you, [livejournal.com profile] morgentau :) *refuses to be bribed by cookies* ;)

Also, did I mention that all of my English Language coursework is now handed in? I'm pretty pleased that that's out of the way! I'm handing my final English Literature coursework in tomorrow as well so I'll only have the History piece left to do and it'll all be out of the way by Easter!

Kizzie's doing really well - she's completely back to her own self and she's not been scratching at the wound or anything. She has to wear the collar thing for another couple of nights just in case she scratches in her sleep but she should be free of it by later this week! We're going to take her for a run at the beach early on Friday morning which will be good for her (and us!)
theron09: (I've Got Nothing)

*waves*

Hey guys :D How are you all doing? Any news or anything writing/art related?

The second part of my history coursework is really making me stressed right now because I'm supposed to be finding some primary sources to use. I need to have about five and right now I have one, and even that one isn't very good. It's frustrating because I know exactly what I want to argue and what I could use to prove things but I can't find any of the things that I'm looking for!

In other news, though, I wrote another 1k of my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang the other day and it's coming along nicely. I'm really pleased with the scenes that I've wrote and I like it so far. I've done some thinking, though, and I'm going to reorganise my outline a bit so that I have less chapters. My original outline had about eight chapters and I'm going to merge that into four so that they're more of a decent length. That shouldn't take too much work, though. I just want to get it finished now so I can start editing and getting it beta-read. Saying that, I'm enjoying the writing part too!

I have this thing at the university tomorrow to introduce me to the programme that I'm taking part in. It should be helpful, I'm just a little nervous because the first half of the event is just for students and, up until now, my Mum's been at all of the open days with me and I know it sounds stupid but it's going to be a bit intimidating going by myself. On the other hand, it's a good chance to (hopefully) meet a few people who will be doing the two week summer school with me so that, when I turn up for that in July, there'll be a familiar face or two. For those of you who don't know, this scheme basically gets me a reduced offer, 3 Bs instead of 3 As (although it's sort of looking as though I might not have needed that - don't want to jinx it, though!)

I'm meant to be making that birthday list for my Mum but I can't think of anything I want. So, does anyone have any suggestions? It can be Supernatural/Leverage related or not!

I'm going to spend this afternoon sorting out my folders and notes because they're so unorganised at the moment and then I'm going to work on my big bang again because I just cannot find any of these stupid sources!
theron09: (being human sucks)

Hey guys :) How are you? Hope you're all doing okay.

First of all, sorry that I've been MIA over the past couple of days. I've had a really horrible cold and I spent pretty much all of Monday and Tuesday in bed. Then, yesterday, I had no choice but to venture out of the house because I had an open day for the course that I really want to do. I'm really glad I went because there was lots of useful information and it's just confirmed how much I want to go in my head but I spent the whole time coughing and sniffling :(

More real life stuff )

My cold is still lingering but I do feel better than I did which is something :) I have a hair appointment at 12.30 today which means that the whole catching up on coursework thing is going to be a bit awkward as it's right in the middle of the day. I might just have to keep on working later into the night than I usually do.

I'm really looking forward to the next episode of Supernatural :D So, so excited about it!

Season 3 of Leverage honestly can't come out on dvd quick enough. There isn't even a release date yet though.

I should, erm, probably get on with that coursework now!
