I go back to uni today. The thing is, I like uni but I have exams in May and essays for May and I know for a fact that the next month or so is going to be soooooo hectic. So I'm kind of eek about going back today. But then, I also get to see my friends who I haven't seen for aaages today so I'm conflicted. Makes a nice change today though because I don't have to have my study group meeting so I'll actually be able to have lunch.

In other news, I've been having all the Adam Milligan feels lately and they HURT. I watched Jump the Shark yesterday and I just kept thinking about what would have happened if Adam had survived and then I started to think about him still being in the cage and, yeah. Anyone have any fic recs for me where Adam survives Jump the Shark or gets rescued from the cage or something? Or even an AU where he meets his brothers in a different way, John optional. Gen or I pretty much ship anything. (Also, I totally know what I'm spending my summer writing now, lots and lots of Adam fic)

Seriously though people, ADAMMMMM.

It's not long until my birthday now - it's on a Friday which is nice because I have that day off uni anyway. Then, on the Saturday we're going to see Avengers. So I'm looking forward to that (even though people keep asking what I want and I can't think of anything!)

Still having fun over at leverageland - have a few challenges to catch up on this week but I love my fellow grifters (and even a few people from other teams, too *g*).

Also, I figure this is about the time to ask if there's anyone on my flist who is going to be at A8. If so, shout up because it'd be awesome if we could meet/look out for each other :)

*hugs you all*

  • It is so warm today! We took Kizzie out for a walk a little earlier and I was walking around in a t-shirt and was still too warm. Yet according to the computer it's only 12 degrees...odd.
  • I'm meant to be working on my essay but it's not going well - I've been working on it across two days now and I've not even got half the word count I need. I was going to change my extract but then I looked at the options and realised why I'd chosen the one I'm doing - it's about the only one I have actual good ideas about. So looks like I'm going to have to muddle on with that for a while.
  • In better news, I watched Iron Man and Thor for the first time last night and HOMG I am in love with everything.
  • Still having fun over at [livejournal.com profile] leverageland - love the fact I get to learn new skills, practice existing skills and have an amazing time with amazing people while I do it!
  • One week left at uni until four weeks break - I'm going to miss my friends from uni not being around but I'm also really looking forward to the break. Even though I'm still going to have to do work (revision!) I'm also going to get a chance to write more and a chance to just relax! I'm going away to Scotland for a week too so heads up, I'll still have internet but won't be around as much as normal because I'll be on holiday!
  • Off to the pub quiz tonight which I'm looking forward to, going to be nice to see everyone again and you never know, we might do better than usual!
theron09: (rigsby and cho)
Hey! How are you all? I've had a pretty good weekend - finished my reverse bang, caught up on all but one of the [livejournal.com profile] leverageland challenges and, best of all, went to meet one of the babies yesterday! He was really gorgeous - all warm and cuddly and he had the hiccups and he was so cute!

But yes, like I said, I finished the draft of my reverse bang so my next project that needs to get completed is the Stanford fic. I'm really looking forward to getting back into writing that one, although I think I need to read through the whole thing first to get my mind into the right head-space to write it again. That said, if I continue writing at the pace I have been lately it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I'm a little worried because I haven't even started by [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang yet, think I need to go through my idea again and try and at least make a start over the next few weeks. And then there's the Adam fic I'm writing with Jai - we do have it all planned out and have allocated who is writing what bits so I might try and make a start on some of my scenes soon.

I'm very pleased to report that I'm learning a new skill at the moment - for lland we have to make a video focused on Nate for one of the challenges and I've had my idea for a while, started putting the video together yesterday and I'm really enjoying it so far - even though I'm not so sure about some of the technical aspects yet (have you met me? I'm incapable of using technology!), it seems to be coming together quite well and I'm excited!

My icon add-on expired today so I've been organised and gone through and deleted ones that I don't really use all that often as well so apparently it's been a productive morning.

I managed to finish my uni reading this morning so I think I'm actually going to be able to take the afternoon of my day off, off! Going to do some writing and vidding and maybe even get around to watching one of the Supernatural episodes...I'm just waiting for a point where my internet seems like it's working fast enough where I can watch them without getting frustrated.

And, man, I realise I still owe some of you fics from Christmas and I feel so terrible about that. I also realise that there's a very big chance the seasonal prompts you gave me wont be wanted any more so I'm going to PM you all today about it. I'm just really sorry it's taken me this long to get things to you because I'm usually pretty quick at getting prompt fics done for you guys.

theron09: (eye of the tiger)
It's my day off today! *dances*

Yesterday seemed really busy (hence why I just did a bullet post) - had lectures and a seminar and then helped out at Brownies - have two extra things from next week too so I think Thursday is going to be my tiring day!  I'm trying to have a productive day today - going to read some Chaucer later for next week and right now I'm doing some writing. Speaking of, I'm going to be messaging the people I still owe fics to later today so look out for those.

I've started watching White Collar - I'm about five episodes in now and I'm really, really enjoying it - I like the characters and the plot and Matt Bomer...basically, it's fun :)

Apparently there's new A8 news coming soon...a male guest who is a Winchester...I'm excited! The thing is, I don't know who I'd prefer it to be because it'd be amazing if it was Jensen but then JDM would also be really cool, as would Jake Abel if they're calling him a Winchester...eeek, can I not have them all?

I feel like I haven't spoken to that many of you recently so ask me any question or whatever :)
theron09: (jensen leather jacket)
My day so far consisted of:
  • Lots of English
  • Learning some Norwegian words
  • A seminar in which we talked about Supernatural, Sherlock, Dr Who, Being Human and fanfiction (I think I'm going to enjoy this module!)
The rest of my day will consist of:
  • Coffee with a friend in about an hour
  • Helping at Brownies
  • Home to eat and watch White Collar
Tomorrow is my day off:
  • I'm meeting up with some friends in the late afternoon
  • Apart from that, I'm writing and reading. I'm looking forward to it.

Heading into uni for the first day of semester two shortly - I have three lectures today and I imagine they're mostly going to be introductory. Have one point where I have to do the usual dash to get from one building to the next in time for my lecture but, luckily, I have a friend who will probably save me a seat.

Met up with [livejournal.com profile] ishilde for coffee yesterday and we started planning the fic we're collaborating on for the Adam challenge - I'm very, very excited to be working with her on this - never collaborated with anyone on writing a fic before though, anyone have any tips for how best to organise it?

My Leverage reverse bang is still coming along nicely - I have 3000 words done and a very clear idea of what's happening. Speaking of, is there anyone who might be willing to beta it for me when it's done? It's going to be at least 10,000 words and it's Sophie/Eliot - there's a chance it might need to be a fairly quick turnaround depending on when I finish but I'm hoping I'll get the draft done to leave enough time.

I'm really looking forward to Friday now - my day off! (Also the day me and my friends go to Pizza Hut, it's going to be even better this week because I think my friend who is away at uni is going to be there!)

Anyway, I better go and get ready so I'm not late for my first lecture...

*hugs you all*
theron09: (air guitar)
Hey! How are you all? It's a few days since I've updated because I was handing my essay in and stuff and then yesterday was the Panic! At The Disco gig.

IT WAS AMAZING! Three of us went and queued up from about 1.30 pm and then my sister and her friend came to meet us once they were done with school. It was so, so cold, especially when it got later, but it was so, so worth the wait. We didn't get right at the front and we ended up having to move back just before Panic! started because it got a bit too rough for us. To be honest, though, where we ended up was better because we went near the bar and we still had a great view of the stage but there was more room to move around and the bar staff were around in case anything happened.

The gig itself was just fantastic - the vocals and the atmosphere and the music. They did a cover of 'Billie Jean' that was really electric and they also covered 'I Believe in a Thing Called Love' near the end of the night and it was so, so awesome. The set list was really good, actually, they covered quite a good mix of their older stuff and the songs off the new album - can't pick a favourite but Brendan Urie's vocals on 'Always' were amazing.

In other news, semester two starts on Monday - I think it's going to be easier to manage my time etc this semester because I (should) have Mondays and Fridays off where I'll be able to review stuff and then have the weekends a bit more free. I'm doing two English Lit modules and one History module this time around - looking forward to it.

I'm back!

Hey all! How are you? Having a good weekend?

I finally sat my exam yesterday! I think it went quite well - I managed to answer my questions on a pretty good range of topics and I think I argued my points well so I've just got to wait until we get the results now and see :) I feel like a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders now, though. I still have a term paper to write but I've done all the leg work - the researching and planning - already and it's a different sort of pressure to exams anyway :)

I've taken today off. I was just going to take the morning off because we took Kizzie for a long walk and then went for a pub lunch but when we got home my cousin was here with his kids and they stayed up until about half an hour ago so I'm just going to grant myself the rest of the day off, too! I can write my essay up tomorrow. Going to try and get some writing done this evening instead - it's ages since I've had the time to just sit and write so I want to do some of that. Lots of things on the go at the moment. Speaking of, if any of you who are still waiting for your prompt fics want to change to a non-seasonal prompt now that it's pretty late in January, just say. I really don't mind.

I don't know whether I mentioned but I've been watching the BBC Sherlock over the last couple of weeks - I'm all caught up except for 2x3 but I think I'm waiting a few days to watch that until my Mum and sister are caught up. I really do love it, though! Next on my list to try is White Collar.

What have you guys been up to? I know a few of you signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang...do you know what you want to write/do art for yet? I'm really excited for this round!
theron09: (ackles attention)
Taking a fifteen minute break from revision so I thought I'd come by and finally post that update post I promised a couple of days ago (oops!)

As you can probably tell, things have been quite intense over the last few weeks. I've now handed one of my essays in but I have another one still to write (due on the 25th) and and exam on Friday (eek!). For the moment, I'm focusing on revising for the exam but I really should have started sooner because now I'm really having to cram and it's making me nervous. For those of you who don't know, I'm the type of person who usually does fine in mocks and then messes up the real thing because of nerves so I'm really trying to work on calming myself down. Not sure how successful I'm being though!

I'm so behind on reaction posts! I have half of the one for Supernatural 7.12 typed up so I may try and finish that tonight and I want to get one written for the latest episode of Leverage, too. For now, I'll just say that I loved both of the episodes! What did you guys think of them?

Writing has had to be put on  a bit of a back-burner over the last few days but rest assured, as soon as exams are over, I'm going to start catching up on the fic I owe you guys, as well as working on my challenge fic. I'm currently signed up for quite a few things but I think I can stay on top of it all once I get a bit more free time.

Who signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang this year? I signed up to write again - I have a pretty good idea what I'm going to do; a Sam/Dean case!fic set in S7, I think (and that's as specific as I'm going into for now!) What are you guys thinking of writing? Or, if you're doing art, what type of stuff do you think you want to claim this year? I'm so excited for this one!

I'm also going to be working on a Leverage reverse bang fic very soon - I'm so, so happy with the artist I claimed and I can't wait to start writing this one - the pairing is one I've never written before, even though I love it, so I'm super excited.

And I'm still working on the Stanford fic (no worries, there, [livejournal.com profile] lightthesparks !)

My top priority writing-wise is going to be working on these three fics to make sure they're all done for the deadlines. And also because I'm very excited about them :)

In other news, my cousin and his family just got a very cute Labrador puppy that we met yesterday - she's very small and very cute and it's just made me want another puppy even more than I already did. It would be so, so good for Kizzie to have another dog to play with. Kizzie's being just as cute and adorable and best-friend-ish as ever. She's been getting lots of lovely walks at the beach etc lately, too.

I was meant to be going to see The Maine and All Time Low on Wednesday with a friend but I've had to cancel so I can revise instead :( We're going to see Panic at the Disco next week, though, so at least there's that :)

Fifteen minutes is up so I should go back to revision...tell me, though, what have you guys been up to? I'm sorry I've not been commenting much!
theron09: (Default)
I'm actually trying to be productive today; have been working on my essay some and then I'm going to try and do some more writing later. I've ended up writing everything I'd planned to write for my essay in less than half the word count so I'm going to need to do some rethinking or go back and try and expand certain bit. It's very, very rough at the moment and I think that's the problem.[Poll #1808319]
theron09: (accountant!Eliot)
  • Okay, so it's a new year and time to make a fresh start. With that in mind, if we've lost touch recently or if we never really got talking after friending each other (or if we talk quite often but you want to to this anyway), feel free to ask  me anything or even just start a random conversation with me in the comments. Whether it's asking me what music I listen to or what the on earth this [livejournal.com profile] leverageland thing I keep mentioning is, anything goes :)
  • I've been working on some Leverage meta recently - I have some of it written out already - but I was wondering whether there was anything specific (or more general) you guys would like to know my views on.
  • I'm thinking about ways to boost/speed up my writing productivity because I'm involved in a lot of different projects at the moment so I was wondering if a)any of you had any tips and b)any of you would be interested in taking part in some sort of a post every week or so where the focus is getting stuff written. So there might be a thread to knock some ideas around, another to just cheer each other on etc. Anyone interested?

theron09: (ackles attention)
Hey guys, how are you? Did you all have a good holiday? I haven't posted since Christmas because it's been quite a busy few days - we've been taking Kizzie for lots of long walks and a run at the beach and then coming home and playing scrabble or watching a movie together. So I thought I'd do a bit of a bullet post to let you all know what I've been up to.
  • Christmas Day was really lovely. We had family come over unexpectedly for a few hours. First of all, my cousin brought his three kids around - they're aged 5, 4 and 3 - and we took them to the park for a little bit while he went to meet some friends. Then, when we got back, my uncle and other cousin (who we haven't seen in ages) were there. It was really good to see them and it was a nice surprise. Aside from those couple of hours, we had quite a quiet day with just the five of us plus Kizzie in the house. I helped my Mum make the Christmas dinner this year and it turned out pretty well :) Then, on Boxing Day, another cousin (the pregnant one) visited with her partner and his son and it was good to see them, too!
  • I got some lovely presents - Supernatural Season Six, money towards A8, a new purse (which I really wasn't expecting), some make-up, some cds and other things. I think my Mum really liked her presents from us, too, although she said we'd spent too much money on her!
  • The writing has been going better - I managed to break through the block and I've written almost 4,000 words. Problem is, that's 4000 words of one of the fics that was meant to only be a few k long. I'm hoping to finish it tonight and then get to work on some of the other prompts too! Speaking of, though, is there anyone who'd be willing to beta a timestamp to my big bang 'Pages Turn' (the J2 bookstore fic) for me? I'm not sure how long it's going to be when it's done, probably about 7k, maybe a little bit longer. It is NC-17, just fyi.
  • I'm still looking for an end of the year meme - either a general one or a one summing up fandom/fic experience in 2011 or something similar.
  • Ask me something random :D I'm in a random kind of mood!
  • I really liked the latest episode of Leverage - I've been working on a reaction post but I haven't finished it yet. And I loved the Christmas special of Downton Abbey - can't believe how long we have to wait for the next season! What did you guys think about the episodes? (Either/or/and!)
theron09: (air guitar)
The Christmas tree and all the other decorations are up :) We did it as we always do it, as a family and listening to Christmas songs. It's strange, this time last year when we did it there was snow outside and had been for a number of weeks. This year, we haven't had any yet. Anyway, it was really fun and it looks pretty good. I'm going to the uni pub quiz tonight with the friends - it's the last one before Christmas and the entry is free tonight as part of the offer advent calender thing that the bar is going so that's nice (especially if we win the £100!)

I've been productive and made a list of some books to get out of the library for over the holidays - it means I can get on with my essays and hopefully I'll miss the rush to get books that'll happen when everyone gets back to Newcastle in January!

I'm about to have a Hot Chocolate with Baileys because it's December and I can :D I do love Christmas!

I was feeling pretty paranoid last night - we all were. Every noise we heard outside made us wonder whether someone was trying to break in again. Logically, I know it's unlikely but it's a horrible feeling all the same. And that's made a positive post negative so I'm going back to talking about good things again.

I'm almost done with Jane Eyre - not sure if I'll finish it before the lecture tomorrow morning because I'm heading out for the quiz at 7 but I'll definitely finish it tomorrow for Tuesday's lecture so that's fine. I'm really, really loving it. And then I'm done reading stuff for this semester and I can read books I choose again :D First one on my list is The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes (I won it at the start of the semester and haven't had a chance to read it yet.) Has anyone read it?
theron09: (SOPHIE theron)
I really hope you're all enjoying your weekend - anyone have any snow? There's been some quite near to me but none actually where I am yet (although it is forecast.) I had quite a busy day yesterday, went shopping with my sister in the morning (remind me never to go Christmas shopping again - it's so busy and hectic and urrgh!) and then came home and did work, sorted out some more presents and things. Today, I'm aiming to get lots of uni work done - I was meant to be going to the pub quiz tonight but I don't think I'll make it as my Mum wants some help with Christmas stuff, too. I guess that's one of the disadvantages of living at home; people in halls perhaps have more freedom to hang out whenever they want to whereas I still have stuff to do with my family every weekend, too.

I'm really looking forward to this week's episode of Leverage; I loved last week's so much and it's great to have it back again - I missed it! Speaking of Leverage, heist five of [livejournal.com profile] leverageland is now finished - my team (Team Grifter) won! I had such a blast taking part and I'm so glad [livejournal.com profile] mizzy2k convinced me to sign up! And an added bonus for me was that I was the 8th top point scorer in the heist which really isn't bad considering I didn't win any of the bingos and I missed the first challenge and it was my first ever time taking part :) I'm aiming for the top 5 next time ;) AND I JUST FOUND OUT THAT I'M A SOPHIE!

Just fyi, I'm planning on starting to post your Christmas prompt fics on around the 10th of this month and they should all be posted by Christmas Eve at the latest. I'm making quite good headway on them, even the ones that I haven't started writing yet are already pretty well planned out so I know what I'm doing.

Booky stuff )

Despite what I said earlier about never going Christmas shopping again, I'm actually going in with my Mum tomorrow evening. It should be much quieter, though, because it's a night time and it's a weekday rather than a weekend. Plus, me and my Mum are less likely to bicker because we're stressed than me and my sister are! I don't think I have any plans for the rest of the week...maybe having coffee with a friend at some point but that's about it. Apart from that, I just have a document commentary to write - it's due next Monday but we're all writing them for our seminar on Friday so we can discuss them and then improve them before handing them in. I'd prefer to get it finished today so that I don't have quite as much work to do during the rest of the week. Ah, December, why are you so busy?
theron09: (WINchester)
Hey! How are all you guys? I hope you're all going to have an awesome weekend and that you're up to something fun :)

The latest episode of Supernatural is downloading now so it'll be there for me to watch later. I'm heading out with my Mum in a few minutes; we're going to take Kizzie for a walk somewhere nice and spend some time together because it's a while since we've done anything properly together. Then I'm coming home and (hopefully) meeting a friend for coffee, he's back from uni for the weekend and THEN I can watch Supernatural :)

Have started my Christmas shopping properly now! Have a really good idea for what I'm getting my uni friends (not saying what, though, because two of them are friends on here!) and I know what I'm getting my Mum so, basically, I can get started on your presents now (the post is still open for prompts, by the way, I'll be linking back to it one more time over the next week and then it'll be closed on December 1st.)

Right, I better go get ready to go out. I'll post my episode reaction later. Have a great day!
theron09: (bright impala)
Hey!

First of all, I'd like to welcome my new friends - it's good to have you here and I'm looking forward to getting to know you! A (slightly out of date) intro post and my masterpost are at the top of my journal and if you have any questions/want to know something about me, go ahead and ask :D

Today, my timing worked out pretty well. I'm not feeling too well (nothing serious, just a bit icky, and I'm actually feeling better now than I was earlier) so I decided to miss my last two lectures. The English lecture is fine because they record them and put them online anyway and my timing for History couldn't have been better because the lecturer didn't turn up so I didn't actually miss anything. The lecture that I DID go to this morning was pretty fun; mentions of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse basically had me and my friends who like SPN grinning the entire time. (One of the later lectures is actually titled 'Pestilence'!)

I get my first essay back tomorrow - slightly nervous but I think I did okay and this one doesn't actually go towards my final mark so it's okay.

It's not long until Leverage comes back now! I'm pretty excited! [livejournal.com profile] leverageland has been a brilliant distraction (seriously, it's amazing!) but I am starting to miss getting new episodes now.

Right, I've forgotten what else I wanted to say now because I just had to nip to the shop! We're having home-made soup for tea :)
Okay then, I'll ask you guys something instead. What projects are you working on? Any fics or art pieces that you're really excited about/frustrated at?
theron09: (air guitar)
Hey all! Time for a bullet post because I'm in a bullet-y kind of mood today!
  • 9am lectures on Mondays are actually the worst thing ever, especially when they're the only thing I have all day! However, I'm feeling brighter now that I'm home again (and hyped up on sugar) so I guess it's okay.
  • I wrote a couple more thousand words of Stanford fic yesterday which always makes me happy - there's something about this fic that just clicked for me and it feels fun whenever I'm writing on it (which is obviously a good thing.)
  • I have a mock exam on Friday, two essays due in at the end of the month-ish, yet I spent half of yesterday solving a logic puzzle for [livejournal.com profile] leverageland . I have no regrets. I love my Grifter team <3
  • Things seem to have calmed down at home today - things aren't back to normal but they're much less tense than they were. I'm also pleased to report that Saturday night was AWESOME. Me and my friends got a take-away and watched Ten Inch Hero and finished the night off by watching Changing Channels and it was kind of perfect because it was the first time we'd watched SPN together and we sang along to the theme song at the start and it was awesome :)
  • Jared Padalecki is going to be at Asylum 8. Have I mentioned my excitement about this because I REALLY AM VERY EXCITED!
  • I need to start Christmas shopping properly. I got something for my Mum the other day but that's all I've got. Usually, I wouldn't be bothered but my friends will be going home earlyish December for the holidays so I need to make sure I have their presents by then.
theron09: (mary downton1)
Hey guys! How are you all?

- Happy Birthday to the lovely [livejournal.com profile] sheryden - I hope you have a fantastic day!!!

-Welcome to [livejournal.com profile] telaryn - it's great to have you here :)

- I'm going to have to miss the weekly meet-up with my friends from school today because I've got so much work to do :( I'm hoping I can really blast through it tonight and tomorrow morning so fingers crossed!

- I have lots of wonderful new icons now! Went through and uploaded some of the ones that have been sitting in folders and also got some as gifts at [livejournal.com profile] leverageland which was awesome.

-Downton Abbey is getting a third series! It's the last episode of S2 on Sunday so the timing of the announcement was perfect; means I don't have to be too sad/wonder whether we're getting more. There's a Christmas special as well :)

- Check out this post here if you haven't already :)
theron09: (ackles attention)
It's really quiet around the house this morning - my little sister has gone back to school today so nothing's really happening and she'd already gone when I woke up. It seems like this year, the six weeks summer holiday went over way too quickly and, apart from the holiday, we hardly went out anywhere. Yesterday was nice, though. We went to a local stately home place and then for a pub lunch.

I don't start uni until the 25th (and that's freshers week so I don't have classes until October) so I have a little way to go but I need to start getting more organised now. I'm going to sit down with my Mum later and we're going to go through all the emails, letters and scholarships information that I've recieved over the last week or so from the uni. And, as I wrote the first paragraph of this post, the bell rang and it was a parcel with some of the books that I ordered and, man, I have a LOT of reading to do. It's exciting and also a little daunting so I'm going to start reading some stuff today - I'm not sure what we'll be doing first but it can't hurt to get a head start on any of them.

I'm getting to the point now where I can't wait for season seven of Supernatural. It's awesome that my mum and sister like to watch Leverage and The Mentalist with me but it means that we're watching those most nights, at the time when I used to sometimes go upstairs to watch Supernatural. Which means I haven't watched ANY Supernatural in ages and I really miss it. I've done pretty well at avoiding season seven spoilers so hopefully it's all going to be a wonderful surprise and I'm really looking forward to it!

My plan for today writing-wise is to do some work on my Stanford fic - I re-read the whole thing yesterday to refresh my memory because it's been a while since I've done anything to it and I still really like it. It's at 26/7 k at the moment so I'm aiming to maybe get it to 30k by the end of today. I'm going to try and do some work on an entry for a challenge at leverageland[livejournal.com profile] leverageland
