theron09: (Harry snitch)

Today is the end of two different eras for me and it's going to be very emotional and I have a feeling I'm going to cry lots so I'm going to need my waterproof mascara!

First of all, I'm going into my old school (and that's the first time I've referred to it as that) for a goodbye lunch. The teachers are ordering in pizza and everyone is saying goodbye to everyone else and we're getting our leavers hoodies and yearbooks. It's so weird to think that I probably won't see some of these people ever again - like the people that I like, have talked to in lessons etc but haven't necessarily hung out with at weekends and things, like the teachers that have supported me and been around since I was eleven, the friends that are moving away to go to uni elsewhere. It feels more real now. Like, at the leaver's ball and everything else I knew it was ending but now that I've been to the summer school and I know that, apart from results day, this is the last time I'm at that school as one of it's students.

I'm kind of worried, too. I feel like I'm one of the only ones from my friendship group who are moving on (K and D are most likely resitting and we're not sure whether R will be leaving or not either) and I'm just really worried that we'll end up losing contact. I mean, look how easy it was for me and K to end up going over a month without speaking to eachother when we were both busy with other things. I don't want that again.

And then it's on to the end of another era. Harry Potter. I'm so excited about it because I have a feeling that the movie is going to be great but I also kind of wish I wasn't going yet because, once I've seen it, that's (as far as we know) the end of anything new from the franchise and that's so freaking sad. It sounds silly and cheesy but I (and a lot of you, I know) have grown up with these books, these movies and it's going to be hard to let it go. Plus, you know, all the deaths and stuff are going to make me sob.

OMG, I just realised. It's like the end of my school and the end of Hogwarts on the same day and it's kind of poetic and I just know the two things are going to tag team me and make me over emotional!!!

Anyway, expect much squeeing and reflecting from me later (and possibly a few tears!)

If you're seeing Harry Potter today, have fun! If not, I hope you enjoy whatever you are doing. *hugs you all*

Finale Day

Hey guys :)

Wow, it feels like this is the first chance I've had to really post properly in a few days. I do like my new timetable but my Wednesdays and Thursdays are so busy now that I hardly get online. Plus, you know, I'm revising as well.

For those of you who asked me to keep you updates about the fire, they've managed to get it under control and no-one seems to be seriously injured. The manager evacuated everyone from inside just in time which was so, so lucky because the size of the blast was huge. People were able to see smoke from 60 miles away at the Scottish borders!

On Wednesday night I went to see POTC 4 with my sister, her friend and K. The film has had mixed reviews, at least it has here in the UK, but I enjoyed it. I thought it was more like the first movie - simpler and more about the fun rather than the darker/more complicated plots. It was strange because there were a few characters missing but I liked the new characters as well so it was all good :)

I woke up this morning and thought it was Saturday and I could watch SPN - imagine my disappointment when I realised it's only Friday! Anyway, I have four essays to do today. I want to get them done today because I can then justify taking tomorrow morning off from working so I can watch SPN :) And then I can revise for the rest of the weekend.

That's it from me for now :) To all of you who are watching SPN today - have fun! I can't believe we're at the end of the season already. I'll be offline tomorrow until I've managed to watch both episodes because I don't want to be spoiled :)

*hugs*

Exam Stuff

May. 4th, 2011 01:36 pm
theron09: (work to do)
So, It's just over a month until my A2 exams start and that is such a scary thought. I'm lucky because I only have two exams this summer but my history exam needs so much revision that the workload is still big. I've got my history exam on June 10th and my english language exam on June 24th.

I need to start revising. I know I do. I just can't seem to actually start. I don't know why, maybe because so much is riding on these exams and it's scary, but I know I need to work hard over the next few weeks so this is me telling you that I'm not going to be around on here as much.

I'm not going on hiatus because a) I won't be able to do it and b)I think I should still be allowed some fun and time to relax BUT I won't be posting quite as often, definitely not every day.

And, please, if I seem to be slacking off on here or on twitter or facebook or whatever, shout at me :) Thanks!
theron09: (WINchester)
I go back to school today :( It's a shame because the two weeks holiday has been a really lovely one and now I have to go back and start revising etc. Yesterday was fun, though. We went out for Tapas afterall and it was awesome :)

I don't need to be in until 1 today so I've been doing some more writing this morning. I finally seem to be back in the right frame of mind to write which is good. Speaking of which, is anyone willing to beta a Sam/Dean fic for me? It's an attempt at a humour fic, between 1500 and 2000 words.
theron09: (dean can)

Hey all :D

Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] frack412 [livejournal.com profile] frack412 , I hope you have an awesome, amazing day! *hugs*

So, erm, my history teacher has broken his foot and won't be back at school for at least six weeks which takes us right up to our exams. Found this out yesterday, had a bit of a panic because the coursework is due in on Friday and then realised that I'm finished it anyway so it doesn't matter. It's kind of a bit rubbish because we're going to be getting taught by a different teacher who has never taught us so she won't know anything about how we work or which things certain people are best at. At least they're putting teaching in place for us, though. Most of us are going into the other history class which means my timetable is changing. There are certain pros and cons about this:

-My Monday morning off has been shortened.
-My Wednesday is all funny; I'll have lots of frees but not enough time to come home during them.
-My Thursday is even longer than it was to start with and begins an hour earlier - goodbye that lie in!

BUT

-My Tuesday double is now in the afternoon instead of first thing which means I don't have to get up as early AND
-I HAVE FRIDAYS OFF XD

In other news, we watched DH1 yesterday, I cried again, laughed, picked up certain parts that I hadn't noticed when I saw it at the cinema and, yeah, I still think it's awesome. The re-read of the series is going well, too - I'm about to start on POA which is one of my favourites (SIRIUS!!!!!!!!!!)

theron09: (dean (arms))

Hey everyone :D How are you all doing? Not long now until the weekend!

- [livejournal.com profile] si_star_x , thank you so much for the v-gift! *hugs*

-My coursework is going a little bit better now...I'm up to about 760 words so I'm doing better than I was yesterday!

-I found out today that we go on study leave on the 13th June, even though my first exam is on the 10th. It doesn't make sense at all and it's going to make revising for history a bit more awkward.

-For anyone who is interested, I now have a PDF of Calver Ridge so if any of you would like that I can send it along.

-S (the friend who I haven't seen for ages) is meeting us for our meal tomorrow! It's going to be so good to see him and for us all to spend time hanging out again.
theron09: (I've Got Nothing)

*waves*

Hey guys :D How are you all doing? Any news or anything writing/art related?

The second part of my history coursework is really making me stressed right now because I'm supposed to be finding some primary sources to use. I need to have about five and right now I have one, and even that one isn't very good. It's frustrating because I know exactly what I want to argue and what I could use to prove things but I can't find any of the things that I'm looking for!

In other news, though, I wrote another 1k of my [livejournal.com profile] spn_j2_bigbang the other day and it's coming along nicely. I'm really pleased with the scenes that I've wrote and I like it so far. I've done some thinking, though, and I'm going to reorganise my outline a bit so that I have less chapters. My original outline had about eight chapters and I'm going to merge that into four so that they're more of a decent length. That shouldn't take too much work, though. I just want to get it finished now so I can start editing and getting it beta-read. Saying that, I'm enjoying the writing part too!

I have this thing at the university tomorrow to introduce me to the programme that I'm taking part in. It should be helpful, I'm just a little nervous because the first half of the event is just for students and, up until now, my Mum's been at all of the open days with me and I know it sounds stupid but it's going to be a bit intimidating going by myself. On the other hand, it's a good chance to (hopefully) meet a few people who will be doing the two week summer school with me so that, when I turn up for that in July, there'll be a familiar face or two. For those of you who don't know, this scheme basically gets me a reduced offer, 3 Bs instead of 3 As (although it's sort of looking as though I might not have needed that - don't want to jinx it, though!)

I'm meant to be making that birthday list for my Mum but I can't think of anything I want. So, does anyone have any suggestions? It can be Supernatural/Leverage related or not!

I'm going to spend this afternoon sorting out my folders and notes because they're so unorganised at the moment and then I'm going to work on my big bang again because I just cannot find any of these stupid sources!
theron09: (coffee break)

Hey guys :D

I'm back to school today - I go in at lunchtime - which kind of sucks but it's also kind of good because I'll see more of my friends. I still have a cold - it's working it's way onto my chest now so I'm coughing pretty spectacularly at the moment! If it doesn't get better soon I'll go and see the doctor because I have to be careful with my asthma. I'm putting it off at the moment though because I don't want to be on medication unless it's absolutely necessary.

I've been doing some more work on my big bang this morning and I'm almost at 8k now. I'm having a slightly panicked moment because I'm not totally sure if I'll be able to reach the 20k with this fic but I'm trying not to worry too much. I have scenes from chapters 1, 2, 3, 4 and 8 written so I need to try and do some work on chapters 5-7. How is it going for everyone else?

My posting date for [livejournal.com profile] spnslashbigbang is March 15th so I'm going to try and work out how I'm going to post it - first time coding a masterpost and everything. Eek. Anyone got any advice?

I was actually meant to work on my coursework this morning. So, once again, I've done a great job at being distracted. Funny how I get more fic written when I'm supposed to be doing coursework!

theron09: (oh hell no)
I made it through the week! Not sure I'm going to make it through the weekend though - I've got this exam on Monday, two essays to do and two pieces of coursework to work on. I remember the time when weekends were supposed to be a time to rest! On top of that, I've got three books to read for the history coursework and I need to try and track down some other books to read.

This whole letter writing thing is very theraputic. I kind of ended up ranting at my Dad a little bit so feel free to skip. And I'm going to f-lock this post because, you know, it's kind of private.

History

Jan. 13th, 2011 11:16 am
theron09: (I've Got Nothing)
My history exam is in less than two hours now and I've decided a few things:

1- An hour and twenty minutes is kind of a short time to write two essays in.
2- I'm sick of spider diagrams.
3- As long as I get the four/five extra marks I need to boost my grade to an A, I'll be happy.

I'm going to have an early lunch in a few minutes and then head up to the school to check my seat and stuff. I will do a proper post when I get back with the meme and letting you all know how it went and maybe even something other than exam stuff! I'm sorry that it's all I seem to talk about at the moment - I'll get more interesting soon!
theron09: (had lunch with death)

Hey guys :) How are you all doing?

- My revision is going well but I feel like I need another week instead of a day for my history! Apparently, though, my Mum say my history teacher last night and he told her that I didn't really need to resit SO if I don't do better than last time (which was a B) it's not going to be the end of the world. He reckons that I can easily make up the marks on my coursework. I'm kind of wishing I hadn't decided to resit it now but then if I do do better then that'll  be good so *shrugs* I'll see what happens.

The exam is tomorrow afternoon so I get the morning off school to prepare/revise which means I should also be able to catch up on some sleep. The thing is, I really don't want to be trying to cram everything in tomorrow morning so I'll probably just do a quick read over my notes and then try to relax. Then I've just got exams on the next two Mondays and I'm done for a while.

-The coursework is going okay at the moment, too. I have more of an idea of what else I need to include in my analysis and I think I've found a pretty good book that I should be able to quote from (although I still need to try and track it down!) The thing is, I want to have a first draft done by the end of the month but I'm going to be starting coursework for history this Friday and then we'll be starting our English Lit at the end of the month and it's kind of a lot of coursework! The history coursework is pretty intense because they're two different essays and they're both pretty research-heavy. It should also be really, really interesting, though :)

-We're finally getting all of these leaks etc sorted out - we have people here now putting scaffolding up so hopefully our living room won't be furnished with buckets for much longer! Of course, the Tesco delivery arrived right when they were in the middle of putting it up - bad timing!

- Watched 'The Blind Side' last night and I really, really enjoyed it. Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw were both really good in it, as well. I missed the first half hour though so I think I'll try watching it all the way through some time.

-Mum and I finished Leverage Season 1 a few nights ago. It was really nice for me to watch them all in order again because sometimes I tend to just watch random episodes. My Mum really, really enjoyed it and we're definitely going to get Season 2 to watch together :) It's so nice to be able to do that.

-My little sister is choosing all of her GCSE subjects at the moment which is scary as hell. I don't know how she's grown up so quickly! She's interested in some pretty cool subjects - history, french, art (I did all of those) and pyscholgy. I just can't believe she's choosing her options already!

-The icon isn't relevant but it is so totally awesome :) Made by the awesome [livejournal.com profile] hellybongo

-I'm going to go and revise some more now!
theron09: (oh hell no)
I should have worked more last week. I really should have. Now I'm left with tonnes of revision to do that I haven't even started (I'm going to fail my exams) and a coursework investigation that'd going to be awful. Like, seriously, last year I had my coursework all organised into a neat folder but this year, this year I can't find half of my notes and I have no idea how to organise it all and it's going BADLY. I have 150 words of an analysis that is terrible.

And now I'm freaking out. And, of course, the clever thing to do would be to not come on lj but I really needed to write this down somewhere and, guys, I need to stop procrastinating and being easily distracted and just DO SOMETHING. Aaargh.
theron09: (catching up with lj)

How's everyone doing? I was slightly MIA yesterday after school got closed again - went into town with my sister and we met up with K to do some Christmas shopping. We didn't actually get that much shopping actually done, though!

I'm going back up to school in about half an hour for history revision. I'm not looking forward to walking back up through the snow again!

Still working on coursework etc but I'm feeling a bit happier about it - there might be a lot to do at the moment but it's going to get better after January. *is trying to look on the bright side* At the moment, I have my coursework open as well as an essay on 'King Lear'.

We're starting to get the house cleaned and ready to decorate for Christmas which is exciting :D The tree's going up next weekend so I'm going to have to find our Christmas CDs - we always play them while we decorate - and I'm hoping my Mum will open the Baileys soon so I can start having Baileys hot chocolate XD

Have I mentioned my new celebrity crush yet? I've always known about this guy and liked his music but, after watching a documentary the other night,  Michael Buble is now my new favourite XD He seems like a really down-to-earth person and I do love his music. Although, I still can't take to his version of 'Crazy Love' - I mean, it's great when he sings it but I'm so used to hearing Jason Manns (ft Jensen) sing it.

I think I'll probably start posting the Christmas prompts around the 10th, just so that I don't spam you all with fic nearer to Christmas! I have most of them written now - going to try and finish the rest over this week and at the weekend.

Some of you may remember that I mentioned that Sir Ian McKellen was coming into my school. Well, that's today :D I don't know whether I'll even catch a glimpse of him but my sister's going to a workshop with him so it's all quite exciting! We're going to try and get his autograph, as well.

Oooh, forgot to mention, yay for Supernatural getting the mag cover!!!! That's pretty exciting, too.

Well, I think I've procrastinated and distracted myself enough for now - back to work I go :D
theron09: (genius at work)
I have finally finished that stupid history essay!!!!! Been working in it for TWO weeks and it was getting ridiculous. I still have an English timed essay to do but after that, I'm pretty much done for the weekend. (I mean, it's only almost Sunday afternoon but I didn't want to have free time anyway :/)

Still haven't managed to watch Supernatural which sucks.

I've only got half an hour or so before lunch which means I don't have time to do the homework yet so I'm just going to type up and finish my Teddy/Ian fic now. It's kind of developing into a bit of a series.

There's a few of you that I haven't heard from in a while - hope you're all okay!

I'm sorry if I've been posting a bit too much lately, as well. I'm just in a posting kind of mood.
theron09: (my head hurts)
I mentioned yesterday that I have a LOT of work to do this weekend. I'm making a list of it all here because a)I don't want to forget any of it and b)It'll shame me into doing it if I get distracted and come onto lj. Obviously, it's here more for me than anything else but feel free to look and sympathise with me :D I'm not putting it behind a cut because then I just won't look at it!

-English Literature coursework - comparing the relationships in 'A Doll's House' and 'Pygmalion.' - I need to find some literary criticism to challenge for this, as well.

-English Language coursework - this is my investigation. I need to edit my introduction, finish my methodology and data display and start on my analysis.

-I NEED to finish my history essay. The same one I've been talking about the the last week. I think I just have my conclusion to do now, though.

-I've also got a timed English Literature essay to do - comparing two poems.

-Need to update my notes.

-REVISE.
theron09: (bored)

Hey everyone :) How are you all doing?

We were in school AGAIN today despite there being a lot of snow overnight. It's still snowing now - at least I don't have to go out this weekend! I've got so much work to do, the most important of which is my literature coursework that I'm resubmitting this year. I was hoping to get on with my [livejournal.com profile] spnslashbigbang but it looks like that won't happen! I also have another Teddy/Ian fic to finish which is a sequel to the last one I wrote.

I found the most awesome present for K for Christmas - he's really into photography so I've got him this t-shirt that says 'I'm a photographer (not a terrorist.)' It's really his type of humour.

Is anyone planning any Christmas/New Year friending memes?

Sir Ian McKellan is coming into our school next week which is pretty exciting :D He's doing a whole assembly on homophobic bullying; I'm not sure whether I'll be able to go to the assembly, though, because I have lessons at the time. You never know, I might bump into him in the corridor!

It's still snowing.

I'm thinking I should probably make a start on this coursework now - need to find some literary criticism to disagree with. And then I have to finish my history essay (I've been working on it for days!) and do some of my language investigation.

theron09: (my head hurts)
School's on today. I've already been in this morning and loads of sixth form lessons were cancelled because of teacher shortages. I've come home for my break but I'm really wishing I'd just stayed there because it's started to snow a lot again. I'm gonna get wet. And I only have one lesson to do. And we're doing a test :( I'm really hoping it's closed again tomorrow so that I can do some work.

I have a coursework deadline for next week and I haven't even started the revisions to it yet. Also, I was only planning on editing one of them but now it looks like I have to do both. /fail.

For anyone who didn't see it yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] big_scoop and I have started a new community, [livejournal.com profile] teddy_ian (90210). It'd be really good if you guys could maybe mention it in your journals because there's not many places for us to advertise it. And jsyk, I only saw the show for the first time yesterday but these two are adorable. And it's canon which is awesome. So yes, in the space of about two hours I watched the show, wrote a fic and became co-mod of the comm. It's exciting :)

Does anyone else watch the show? I need more people to squee with XD

I have exams in January. I've just realised how close January actually is. I should revise at some point. And, omg, I have so much coursework to do as well. Me=freaking out. I also think that when my exams actually start I'm going to have to do a semi-hiatus, maybe limit myself to a certain amount of time online per day because, if I don't, I'm going to FAIL.

And I just looked out of the window and it's a freaking blizzard out there. And I have to leave in just over an hour and I don't think it's going to stop before then. Oh dear.

On the plus side, one of the history teachers was singing 'Let it Snow' today XD She's awesome.

I'll shut up now.
theron09: (bored)
I'm bored (see icon) and so I've finally got around to making a masterpost for my fics which can be found here if anyone wants to check it out. I think all of the links work! (And I'm also amazed that I managed to make it.)

I've also edited some of the Christmas prompt fics - is anyone else up for beta-reading a few of them? I have Sam/Dean and gen fics so far, will have some Dean/Cas soon. I've also got one J2 fic that needs beta-read, as well.

The school is planning to open tomorrow but I think it really depends on the weather - and there's snow forecast overnight so I'm thinking (hoping) it'll be closed again. I really haven't been making the most of having extra time to revise.
theron09: (coffee break)
I'm not actually having coffee, I'm having hot chocolate instead :D

Thanks to everyone who sent out positive thoughts for my cousin - he's coming out of the hospital today which is great :D

It's still snowing here, although there hasn't been as much as yesterday. We let Kizzie out in the back this morning and she played in the snow - got some really lovely photos of her that I'll post later. She's hilarious because she can't work out where the snowballs go :)

I was just thinking about the Christmas prompts. I was going to post them from about the 10th December but there are quite a few so I was wondering whether I should start on the 1st and post one a day - what would you guys prefer? I don't mind either way, really. It's just because the 1st is still quite far away from Christmas, really.

I've left all of my homework until Sunday afternoon. Again. And now I've got two essays to write as well as coursework to work on. I've started my history essay but I've given up on that for now. I'm going to start on my Lit question once I've finished writing this post. The question's all about poetry and there's one of Shakespeare's sonnets to write about. I think it should be okay.

Still working my way through Pokemon Yellow - I'm taking it quite slowly because it's the first time I've played it in so long. I'm training my pokemon up quite well, I've got a fairly strong team and my pokedex is looking a lot better than it ever did when I was younger :) I've asked my Mum if she can get me some more of the games for Christmas. I'm really getting back into it all now :D

I better go and write these essays now :(
theron09: (sam check shirt)
I stayed off school today - I had a really bad headache last night (went to bed at 7.30!) didn't get much sleep, and then I woke up with a really sore throat this morning. I only had one lesson scheduled for today anyway so I didn't go in. It's probably a good job that I didn't, to be honest. Apparently the school got a bit mad at about 11 - there's loads of protests going on and lots of people staged a walk-out. This is happening all over the UK as well, not just where I live. The thing is, I agree with the reasoning behind the walk-out but if I'd have walked out I would have lost my EMA for the week and, idk, I just wasn't sure about it.

I'm feeling a bit better now, anyway. Have been working on my language investigation because I've got a tutorial tomorrow and my teacher wants to see what I've done and I kind of hadn't done what I was supposed to. It's done now though. I'm supposed to do wider reading as well and I've tried to look for studies on how textbooks have changed but I can't find anything which really doesn't help. I'm going to go and do another google search now. I don't know - any of you study English Language/something similar?

Snow! It snowed earlier and it's supposed to snow again tonight. I kind of want it to but only if it doesn't settle. I really do love snow but not when I have to walk up to school every day! It can snow properly once the holidays start :)

My sister and I are putting together a hamper type of thing for our Mum for Christmas - all things that are relaxing and that she loves. Anyone get any ideas for things to put in it? Maybe something a bit more unusual? We've got the obvious - bath stuff, a cd, chocolate, wine (if we can get someone to buy it for us), possibly some perfume. We kind of want to go all out this year and get her lots because she really deserves it.
