The Christmas tree and all the other decorations are up :) We did it as we always do it, as a family and listening to Christmas songs. It's strange, this time last year when we did it there was snow outside and had been for a number of weeks. This year, we haven't had any yet. Anyway, it was really fun and it looks pretty good. I'm going to the uni pub quiz tonight with the friends - it's the last one before Christmas and the entry is free tonight as part of the offer advent calender thing that the bar is going so that's nice (especially if we win the £100!)

I've been productive and made a list of some books to get out of the library for over the holidays - it means I can get on with my essays and hopefully I'll miss the rush to get books that'll happen when everyone gets back to Newcastle in January!

I'm about to have a Hot Chocolate with Baileys because it's December and I can :D I do love Christmas!

I was feeling pretty paranoid last night - we all were. Every noise we heard outside made us wonder whether someone was trying to break in again. Logically, I know it's unlikely but it's a horrible feeling all the same. And that's made a positive post negative so I'm going back to talking about good things again.

I'm almost done with Jane Eyre - not sure if I'll finish it before the lecture tomorrow morning because I'm heading out for the quiz at 7 but I'll definitely finish it tomorrow for Tuesday's lecture so that's fine. I'm really, really loving it. And then I'm done reading stuff for this semester and I can read books I choose again :D First one on my list is The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes (I won it at the start of the semester and haven't had a chance to read it yet.) Has anyone read it?

It's my day off uni today so I've been (or trying to be!) productive at home. I've done some more editing to my essay that's due on Monday - it's still over the word count limit but it's within the 10% leeway now so I should be okay. Speaking of, I got my mark for the first documentary commentary that I handed in a while back; got a 68 which is two marks off a First so I'm pleased with that. I should be getting some more marks back soon.

I'm getting excited about all sorts of things at the moment:
  • Going to the pantomime again next Thursday - it's at a different theatre and it's more of an amateur performance than the last one but it should still be fun. It's a Brownie trip but we had a spare ticket so one of my friends is able to come as well.
  • I'm booked up for two gigs in January - The Maine and All Time Low on one night and then Panic at the Disco the week after.
  • Going to see Calamity Jane at the theatre in April.
  • Asylum 8 (!)
And one more thing that's most likely happening: going to see American Idiot: The Musical in Edinburgh October of next year :) Tickets go on sale tomorrow so, providing we can get some, we're going. I'm so excited!

Okay, one final thing, is anyone willing to beta a fic for me? It's a little over 1000 words and it deals with the angels. It's one of the Christmas prompt fics that I've finished.

So, I only got to finish watching this ep now and it's a bit late to type up a blow by blow reaction so have a quickie reaction post under the cut :)

Hey!

I've had a very productive day - got my document commentary written (although I've gone over the word limit so I'll have to go through and edit), took Kizzie for two lovely long walks through the park, did some English work. Going shopping with my Mum after tea and then when I get back I might finally get the chance to watch the new episode of Leverage! It's unusual for me to not have watched it yet. So yeah, expect a reaction post from me later tonight :)

I usually only manage to go on one of Kizzie's walks per day but I feel so much better today for having done two; the fresh air, the exercise, it's true what people say about the benefits of dog-walking. Plus I got to have some nice conversations with my Mum and sister.

Who's getting excited for Christmas? I really, really am this year! I still need to sort so much out - I haven't written any cards yet and I've got most of my friends presents but there's still a few things to finish off and then I'll need to wrap them all up. But yes, I'm very excited this year :D
theron09: (SOPHIE theron)
I really hope you're all enjoying your weekend - anyone have any snow? There's been some quite near to me but none actually where I am yet (although it is forecast.) I had quite a busy day yesterday, went shopping with my sister in the morning (remind me never to go Christmas shopping again - it's so busy and hectic and urrgh!) and then came home and did work, sorted out some more presents and things. Today, I'm aiming to get lots of uni work done - I was meant to be going to the pub quiz tonight but I don't think I'll make it as my Mum wants some help with Christmas stuff, too. I guess that's one of the disadvantages of living at home; people in halls perhaps have more freedom to hang out whenever they want to whereas I still have stuff to do with my family every weekend, too.

I'm really looking forward to this week's episode of Leverage; I loved last week's so much and it's great to have it back again - I missed it! Speaking of Leverage, heist five of [livejournal.com profile] leverageland is now finished - my team (Team Grifter) won! I had such a blast taking part and I'm so glad [livejournal.com profile] mizzy2k convinced me to sign up! And an added bonus for me was that I was the 8th top point scorer in the heist which really isn't bad considering I didn't win any of the bingos and I missed the first challenge and it was my first ever time taking part :) I'm aiming for the top 5 next time ;) AND I JUST FOUND OUT THAT I'M A SOPHIE!

Just fyi, I'm planning on starting to post your Christmas prompt fics on around the 10th of this month and they should all be posted by Christmas Eve at the latest. I'm making quite good headway on them, even the ones that I haven't started writing yet are already pretty well planned out so I know what I'm doing.

Booky stuff )

Despite what I said earlier about never going Christmas shopping again, I'm actually going in with my Mum tomorrow evening. It should be much quieter, though, because it's a night time and it's a weekday rather than a weekend. Plus, me and my Mum are less likely to bicker because we're stressed than me and my sister are! I don't think I have any plans for the rest of the week...maybe having coffee with a friend at some point but that's about it. Apart from that, I just have a document commentary to write - it's due next Monday but we're all writing them for our seminar on Friday so we can discuss them and then improve them before handing them in. I'd prefer to get it finished today so that I don't have quite as much work to do during the rest of the week. Ah, December, why are you so busy?
theron09: (waywardsons)
I have a mock exam tomorrow so I've spent the morning revising; going to have a look at some practice questions after lunch and then leave it at that because it's a mock and I have seminar prep to do, as well as prep for Brownies tonight, as well as needing to have some sort of a break. It's strange because everyone I spoke to was all 'uni is so much easier than A-levels' but it really isn't!

Jason Manns has been confirmed for Asylum 8 :) I kind of knew he would be there but it's so awesome to have it confirmed! It's going to be so nice to finally get to see him live (and thank him in person, hopefully, for being so nice about sending out the free cds and the autographs and stuff.) I was listening to him on the bus on my way to and from uni yesterday and just couldn't stop smiling (think I also danced a little bit which is embarrassing but never mind) :)

I really miss being able to sit down at a weekend and write for hours and hours;  at the moment I'm just snatching time here and there and my output is so much slower than it used to me. I'm hoping to get the Stanford fic finished/at least almost finished by the end of the year so that I can focus on big bang from January (need to think of a plot or even a vague idea, first, of course!)

I'm not going out for pizza like usual tomorrow but I do have plans for Sunday. Me and my SPN uni friends are introducing someone to the show with a marathon in the afternoon and then we're all going to the pub quiz in the evening which should be fun - going to make an effort to spend time with my Mum on the Saturday because I miss doing stuff with her!

How are all of you guys? Up to anything interesting today/over the next few days?
theron09: (air guitar)
Hey guys, how are you? I have some VERY exciting news!!!!

I think I'm going to Asylum 8!! We haven't booked our tickets yet but there's a group of us who are pretty much set on going. One problem, the con ends the day before our exam period starts. Now, the chances of us having an exam on the Monday are probably (hopefully) low so I think we're going to take the risk and then just either leave early or sell our tickets if we really have no other choice.

Guys, my first convention! I NEVER thought I'd get to go to one! Misha, Mark S, Mark P, Jim Beaver and Steven Williams are all scheduled to be there! I am so excited!!

In other news, I had a super busy today. I:

- squeed over the convention, decided to go to the convention, panicked about exam season, decided to risk it, got permission to go from Mother dearest (although she couldn't really stop me, it's still polite and nice to ask and check)

- Had three lectures (the most I've had so far.

-Sat in A and E for two hours with a friend who sprained her thumb.

-Squeed some more.
theron09: (that right there awesome)
How amazing and exciting and downright awesome was this episode? I mean, it made me cry and gasp and bite my nails. There’s so much to talk about here and I know I’m going to forget some things so feel free to mention anything I've missed in comments so I can squee about those too! There's spoilers abound beneath the cut, along with some speculation about what things mean/what is to come. (I think some of it may even be meta)

7.02 )

So yeah, I loved the episode!!!
theron09: (WINchester)

Okay, so I loved this episode (I guess that's not really a surprise because I usually do!) It was totally, totally worth the wait over hiatus and it just reminded me of why I love the show and it's ability to take me on an emotional rollercoaster and just be wonderfully epic. Suffice to say, there are spoilers under the cut.

Stopping by just before I catch up on Leverage to tell you all that:

I PASSED THE SUMMER SCHOOL WITH EXCELLENT POTENTIAL (WHICH IS THE BEST PASS YOU CAN GET)

I'm very happy right now.
theron09: (eliot hat)

Hey all! How are you doing?

I feel like I've been really busy over the last week or so and, because of that, I haven't had much time to be on here or to write. I think I might have to drop out of the Leverage big bang but I'm going to wait and see. I have fifteeen days to write at least 14,000 words and it would be doable if all I had to do was sit in front of my laptop and write but it's not. We're still decorating and packing for the holiday and then I'm going on holiday without my laptop and then there's like, five days maybe when I get back but that's a busy week too because I get my results and things. So basically, I'm going to try and keep writing it but if I don't get it finished in time I'm not going to stress. Oh, and I think I'm making in gen instead of Nate/Eliot because I think it'll work better with my idea. I think.

I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spnslashbigbang and the [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang - that sounds bad after saying I'm struggling with the Leverage one but the deadlines etc are much later so I'm thinking ahead with those. I already have an idea for the big bang, obviously I don't for the reversebang, so hopefully that'll turn out well. Who else is taking part in either of them? Speaking of, [livejournal.com profile] thebigbangjob still needs more Leverage artists!

I'm going to get organised for this holiday - print out all the prompts and plot outlines and stuff to take with me so I can at least try and get something written. So yeah, wish me luck with that :D

I still haven't heard back from the summer school people about this library book so I'm going to give them until after lunch and then call them if I don't hear from them by them. I've been thinking though and I don't think they can realistically fail me for this. Surely they must know that I wouldn't be so keen to check if they've found the book and stuff if I wasn't telling the truth. I just really want to know for certain because it's nagging at me.

As I mentioned briefly (loudly) yesterday, I'm now a registered Pottermore beta-tester and member. My username is pretty cool - ShadowMarauder178 - because I love the Marauders :D Anyway, I'm very excited and I'm looking forward to getting my welcome to Hogwarts letter (welcome to pottermore email.) So, who else among you is no longer a muggle? ;)

theron09: (E H fist bump)

I was so looking forward to this episode and I had to wait ages to watch it because I was decorating and packing stuff for me holiday and then I finally got to watch it and it didn't disappoint! I basically squeed throughout the whole episode.

Here there be some spoilers and squee )

In short, awesome :D

theron09: (leverage)

Okay, so now that lj seems to be working for me I'll post this.

Spoilers be here )

While I think on and have the attention of my Leverage friends - I think [livejournal.com profile] thebigbangjob challenge (which I'm writing for) is still very much in need of artists so, you know, do your thing ;) And I'll ask again, anyone up for beta-reading mine when it's done? A fic that's either going to end up as gen or Nate/Eliot (I'm not totally sure how it's going to go yet) but will definitely focus on Nate and Eliot either way, whilst also featuring the rest of the guys.
theron09: (Harry snitch)
Got totally distracted from pretty much everything I was meant to do this afternoon because they showed the first Harry Potter movie on tv and then followed it up with a behind the scenes documentary on the last movie so I figured I might as well do my reaction post now. There are spoilers behind the cut.

Reaction and some other stuff... )
theron09: (coffee break)

I promised a proper update so here it is :)

This past week has been a LOT of FUN. I was really looking forward to it beforehand but it's even better than I thought it would be. I only began actual subject seminars on Wednesday but we've already had nine sessions and I enjoyed every single one of them. I think I'm going to break this down into a few sections so that if you're only interested in certain things you can just skip to those bits!

The Work )

Friends )The Social Event )Other Things:

  • I'm very, very tired! On Wednesday I was out in seminars and then at the quiz from 9.30 till 11. Then yesterday I was in from 9.30 - 5 without any breaks apart from lunch then straight to Brownies for 6. Next week's timetable is a bit quieter, I think.
  • Please let me know if I've missed anything important and link me to it/tell me about it here.
  • My sister and I are going into town later to go shopping for presents for my mum (it's her birthday on Thursday.) K might be meeting us to go for pizza (fingers crossed!)
  • I'm going to postpone the memes etc until summer school is over because I'm not sure when I'll be able to get online etc.
