Yay for your plans to watch Miami Vice! I remember Viggo Mortensen's appearance, mainly because I actually had to watch that episode twice to see him. I think it's in season 4 so it will take you a while until you get there, but you'll probably understand once you see Red Tape.
I still occasionally watch The Mentalist and just a few days ago I watched an episode with Mark Pellegrino in it! He had a mustache and wore lots of leather (he was the boss of a biker gang); I didn't like the mustache so much, but the leather was cool.
I also used to watch Merlin but I got bored. That's not saying you shouldn't give it a try though. :) I know there are lots of people who really like it.
