Not feeling well today - my throat is really sore and I feel a bit tired and run-down - so I've had to cancel going out with my friends for the pub quiz tonight which is a shame because it wasn't on last week and I miss them when I don't see them. It's the sensible thing to do, though, I figure if I can get some rest and stay inside in the warm I might manage to limit the damage to just a sore throat rather than a full-blown cold. So, instead of going out at all today I'm going to try and get the reading for uni finished and then I might get around to watching Supernatural - I tried to dl it yesterday but it wasn't working.

I've just realised it's been a little while since I've updated- it's mainly because I've not been up to anything new; just going to uni and writing. My Leverage Reverse Bang is going very well, should have the draft finished soon and then my next job is finishing the Stanford fic which I'm looking forward to getting back to. Then I should really make a start to my spn_j2_bigbang fic. Eeek, why did I sign up for so much?! It's all fun, though, so I'm going to try and enjoy it and not get stressed.

Speaking of the Stanford fic, I'm not looking for any definite answers yet but do any of you think you might be up for beta-reading it for me? It's going to be a big project - it's at 35k now and there's still a way to go before it gets finished.

I'm also collaborating with [livejournal.com profile] ishilde on a fic for the Adam challenge (as well as hopefully writing my own fic too.) We have our plot totally outlined and I'm really enjoying the process of working with someone else on the actual writing so far - it'll be interesting to see how it goes when we start the writing.

I finished season one of White Collar on Friday (while I was waiting for leverageland bingo) - I've really enjoyed the season and I really like the dynamics between the characters and the characters themselves. There's a couple of other shows I'm thinking about giving a go - Castle, Burn Notice, Hawaii 5-0. Anyone have any opinions on those?

I watched 'I Am Number 4' last night; it was quite different to the book but I thought it was quite a good film. It was weird seeing Jake Abel in that part, though, I kept wanting to hug him and I don't think that's the reaction I was meant to have to the character!

This sounds like all I've been doing is watching tv and movies but I have also been very busy with uni things; there's more reading to do this semester because I'm doing two lit modules instead of one. I'm really enjoying both of the lit modules so far but it's taking me a while to get back into the swing of reading. Think I'm about there now, though. Haven't made up my mind about the history module I'm doing yet; I think it has the potential to be enjoyable but it hasn't got there yet.

Anyway, I feel like I haven't been around much/talked to many of you lately so go ahead and ask any questions or tell me something random or whatever :) *hugs you all*

I'd most definitely go for Castle and Burn Notice. Castle's got great comedy and drama, plus you can't go wrong with Nathan Fillion :) . Burn Notice has got a lot of action to it.

Sounds like both are going to be awesome :)

Burn Notice and Hawaii Five-0 are both very fun shows. I enjoy them a lot. I don't know how I can describe them. Think of a weird mix between Ocean's Eleven/Robin Hood/Leverage for Burn Notice. Also, Jeffrey Donovan is really perfect for the main character and it's fun to watch him do a lot of different accents/roles.
Hawaii Five-0 has a great cast too (Scott Caan is amazing), strong female characters and the banter between the two main characters is hilarious. It's a cop show so the plot isn't always very original, but I haven't gotten bored yet.

That said, both aren't the tv shows of the century, but definitely fun to watch.

Hope you'll feel better soon! :)

It sounds like they're both cool - I love Scott Caan which is what made me think of checking Hawaii Five-O out at first, plus it sounds like my type of show.

Thanks - I'm feeling a little bit worse today, actually, but hopefully it'll be my worst day and I'll feel better from tomorrow.

That seems to be going around, I've had a sore throat for about a week now, my voice is finally coming back and I've just been so tired lately. Being sick sucks. Feel better soon!

I could beta for you, if you'd like :) Just let me know what kind of time frame I'd be looking at and I can give you a definite answer then.

Castle is such a fun show! I'm not able to really keep up with it as I'd like but every time I get the chance to watch it I always enjoy myself. Same with Hawaii 5-0, the chemistry between the leads is great on both shows which obviously makes for a great time.

Yeah, a few people I've talked to have been unwell - I'm hoping I start feeling better tomorrow when I have lectures; I already had to cancel something today :(

Thank you very much for offering to beta - it's probably going to be quite a relaxed time frame - the rough draft is due at the end of March but I'm hoping to get it done earlier and then I'll be waiting for art; there won't necessarily be a fixed posting date with this. It's a Stanford Sam/Dean AU, by the way.

Sounds like both shows are worth checking out, then!

Thank you! I hope I do - I was meant to go and meet the trustees of the scholarship I'm getting today but I've had to cancel :(

I'm sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I hope it goes away without turning into an actual cold. I haven't watched the newest spn episode yet either. I watched the one of last week only today because I've been so lazy.

God, 35k, I can't wait to read this! It's going to be so epic!

Castle I don't know. I think my father enjoyed it, if it's the right series I'm thinking of.

I once read an awesome crossover story of Burn Notice with spn: It's <a href="http://ratherastory.livejournal.com/90010.html>Smoke on the Water</a> by <user site="livejournal.com" user="http://ratherastory">. It's been a while since I've read it but I think it made me watch the first episode or so of Burn Notice. Unfortunately I couldn't find a good website to watch it on (the resolution was horrible) so I lost interest.

Hawaii 5-0 I watched a couple of episodes on tv. Hawaii looked pretty good in it :) It was interesting to see Alex O'Loughlin again (saw him in Moonlight) and of course Scott Caan. I think they make a pretty good team. As far as I remember, I didn't like some parts of the larger plot around the series, but I'm rarely without criticism :)

Thanks - I'm afraid it's turned into something a bit worse; had a temperature when I woke up this morning. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that I'm feeling a little better by tomorrow when I have lectures. I might try and watch the SPN episode today.

Feel better soon, bb.

You are writing like a machine; go you!

Also, I always want to hug Jake Abel, even when he's being serial-killer-y. Would you believe I got mad at the protagonist of Angel of Death for killing him? XD

Thanks - I hope I do!

Jake Abel is a very hug-able person :D
