Title: A Helping Hand

Fandom: Supernatural

Rating: PG

Summary: Set before Lucifer’s fall from Heaven. A short scene between two brothers.

A/N: Written for trollmela – Happy Birthday! I hope you enjoy your day as much as I enjoy being friends with you!

A/N 2: I definitely haven’t written anything like this before! I hope it works.
 

 

It had been a long while since Gabriel had had the time to properly look after his wings. With wars and famines and other earthly things to keep his eyes on, he had just never got around to it. Of course, his other problem was that he needed someone to do it for him and it was rare that there was someone around who would spend the time grooming an archangel’s wings. Even when his brothers were home they always either had too much to do or refused to help him.

Frowning at the untidy state of his wings, Gabriel stood up and began to pace the room. It wasn’t fair; he wasn’t a bad brother, always made the time for them when they needed it, had never caused the destruction of an entire planet by fighting with one of them. Maybe that was the problem; maybe he was too easy-going, maybe they would help if he showed them he was the boss.

“Filthy, soul-sucking humans.”

Gabriel turned around, tilting his head as Lucifer stalked into the room, a familiar scowl on his face. “Problems?”

“They’re pointless creatures - all they do is waste our time.”

He shrugged, “You waste more time complaining about them. Just,” he waved his hands in the air, “Ignore them. They’ll get wiped out before long.”

“If they don’t, I’ll get rid of them myself. Lousy excuse for vessels.”

“Look, forget about them. Groom my wings.”

Lucifer sighed, “Right now?”

He nodded, “Mikey and Raphael are busy and they’ve needed doing for ages. Besides,” he quirked his lips, “You know you always do them best.”

Taking a step closer, Lucifer replied, “I also know you probably said that to the both of them when you asked them if they would do it for you.”

“Yeah, but I mean it this time.”

He tossed his head back, laughing, “Okay, little brother, sit down and get your wings out. They have been looking unruly lately.”

“You noticed?”

“Of course.”

Gabriel grinned and spread his wings out, closing his eyes as his brother began to brush through the feathers. His other brothers might have said no, but Lucifer never did; he always made time for his family.

“How are they shaping up there, Luci?”

Lucifer smiled, carding his fingers through his little brother’s wings. “Like you said, I always do them best.”

Thank you, my dear, for your wishes and your fic! I wondered whether you'd post this on my birthday, and - here I am! It's a lovely little fic, really perfect! I had to laugh when Gabriel remarked that humans would be wiped out before long and when Lucifer said that Gabriel told everyone that they did his wings best. (He's a bit of a slut, our Gabriel :D)

I also loved how you portrayed Lucifer as someone who loves his family but just can't understand humans. And thank you for calling him "Luci" :)

Honestly, that's kind of how I've always seen Lucifer in Supernatural :)
