-I was actually sort of productive today - sort of. Oh man, why do I always say I'm going to get work done in the first week of the holidays and still be working on it in the third?

- Going on holiday to Scotland next week, back to a similar area to where we were last time. Really looking forward to the change of scenery and to hopefully being able to sit and do nothing without feeling guilty about it.

- I have a new laptop. Old one got BSOD and because it was mostly likely the fault of the repair company the shop deducted the amount of money I'd paid for the repairs off a new laptop. I like this one much better, actually - it's much smaller so I'll actually be able to take it places. Going through the process of clearing out my external hard drive now before I put the files I actually need onto this one. So much random stuff and things I'd forgotten I had!

- Trying to finalise my idea for my Leverage Exchange fic, too. I have loads of ideas and I'm really excited about it - want to lock in a firm concept etc soon so I can start writing it.

- How are all you doing? Seriously, I want to know *g*

- Using my Lydia icon because Teen Wolf.

Figured it was about time for another update so here goes.
  • Things are as okay as they can be right now, I guess.Still sad, still angry, still not quite sure what to do a lot of the time but there are things keeping me going - my family (it's just me, my Grandma, Mum and my sister in the house now and we're all coping in our different ways I guess which means there's sometimes a bit of tension but mostly we're just hugging each other a lot), my friends on here (you know who you are), keeping myself busy with writing and things.
  • We're going on holiday next month, spending a week in a cottage in Scotland in the Perthshire area. I'm looking forward to the break (though it's going to be a little strange having no internet). My Grandma's coming with us now - my Grandad's been so ill for so long that he and my Grandma haven't been able to go on holiday in years, and it's something they both used to love so much, so it's nice - if bittersweet - that my Grandma's going to be able to go on holiday again. It gives her something to look forward to, which is good.
  • I'm posting my [livejournal.com profile] spn_adambang fic before I go away. The minimum word count was 5k but I ended up writing 20k so I'll have to code all of that soon. I've loved taking part in this challenge though - the community has been so supportive and I've made friends and then I was lucky enough to get a lovely artist, too.
  • I have a couple of other things already booked/planned for before the end of the year. In September, [livejournal.com profile] ishilde and I are meant to be going to Edinburgh for the weekend, spending it with [livejournal.com profile] inspired_looney and [livejournal.com profile] whiskyinmind - I'm really looking forward to that. In late October, I'm going back to Edinburgh for the day to see American Idiot, the Broadway musical, which is doing a UK tour. And then on November 1st I'm going to Manchester to see Muse, first time I'll have seen them live. So yeah, things to look forward to.
  • My hayfever is acting up. Either that or I'm getting a cold.

Hey guys, how are you? Did you all have a good holiday? I haven't posted since Christmas because it's been quite a busy few days - we've been taking Kizzie for lots of long walks and a run at the beach and then coming home and playing scrabble or watching a movie together. So I thought I'd do a bit of a bullet post to let you all know what I've been up to.
  • Christmas Day was really lovely. We had family come over unexpectedly for a few hours. First of all, my cousin brought his three kids around - they're aged 5, 4 and 3 - and we took them to the park for a little bit while he went to meet some friends. Then, when we got back, my uncle and other cousin (who we haven't seen in ages) were there. It was really good to see them and it was a nice surprise. Aside from those couple of hours, we had quite a quiet day with just the five of us plus Kizzie in the house. I helped my Mum make the Christmas dinner this year and it turned out pretty well :) Then, on Boxing Day, another cousin (the pregnant one) visited with her partner and his son and it was good to see them, too!
  • I got some lovely presents - Supernatural Season Six, money towards A8, a new purse (which I really wasn't expecting), some make-up, some cds and other things. I think my Mum really liked her presents from us, too, although she said we'd spent too much money on her!
  • The writing has been going better - I managed to break through the block and I've written almost 4,000 words. Problem is, that's 4000 words of one of the fics that was meant to only be a few k long. I'm hoping to finish it tonight and then get to work on some of the other prompts too! Speaking of, though, is there anyone who'd be willing to beta a timestamp to my big bang 'Pages Turn' (the J2 bookstore fic) for me? I'm not sure how long it's going to be when it's done, probably about 7k, maybe a little bit longer. It is NC-17, just fyi.
  • I'm still looking for an end of the year meme - either a general one or a one summing up fandom/fic experience in 2011 or something similar.
  • Ask me something random :D I'm in a random kind of mood!
  • I really liked the latest episode of Leverage - I've been working on a reaction post but I haven't finished it yet. And I loved the Christmas special of Downton Abbey - can't believe how long we have to wait for the next season! What did you guys think about the episodes? (Either/or/and!)

  • You're getting a bullet post because I've tried writing a post about ten times now and it keeps screwing up so I'm being lazy this time.
  • I'm also going to have to post the WIP meme snippets tomorrow instead of today because lj keeps screwing up.
  • I went to a friend's 18th party thing today, wore a dress (!) and stood out in the sun. All was good.
  • My summer school starts tomorrow. I thought I'd be nervous but right now I just feel excited more than anything. People there won't know me so I'm going to take the chance to change who I am. I'm no longer going to be the shy one who hardly ever speaks up in class, I'm going to be someone who does. Strangely, I've been feeling more and more confident over the last few months and I like it. I'm still me, I'm just not getting nervous (read:terrified) over stupid things anymore.
  • I need to go and try finish reading Atonement now so that I can say I've read at least one of the books on the course (I gave up on Pride and Prejudice AGAIN.)
  • I'll let you know how things go tomorrow/what my timetable is like etc.
  • I have a dog licking my arm.
  • That is all.
